View Full Version : Conspiracy Theory EP 550

You guys look at the facts and tell me, am I getting paranoid?
A. I fly with a good mate (well so he tells me) and he likes to tinker with set ups etc.
B. I regularily let him (beg him!) to fix my heli and set stuff up. He takes my heli home to do this.
C. He convinced me to upgrade to the EP Pro (so he could inherit my stock plastic one) Getting suspicious already eh?
D. The stock plastic I gave him flies beautifully and never needs anything doing to it.
E. My Pro has only been flown 5 or 6 times since I have had it (over a month) due to mechanical failures (no step down for tail servo...3 weeks delay waiting for parts, tail pitch slider mysteriously came unthreaded in flight...underwear change required, one way bearing locked up...after 6 flights!!!.
F. My flying capability is marginally better than my mates but he is catching me up rapidly......!
So, the fact he never brings the right tools, spare parts (we share a stock of spare parts) etc to the field, the fact his flies reliably, the fact he takes my heli home, the fact he is trying to catch up on ability, the fact he took off right infront of me once causing me to 'eat dirt' and my other heli (trex se)which was then gounded for two weeks, the fact he turned up at the field today with 12 (we share batteries) 'discharged' batteries that he swore were all charged and ready to go but still managed to get airtime with our two properly charged 3300's. (suspiciously already in his heli when he arrived!!)
SO....... IS HE TRYING TO SCREW ME TILL HE CATCHES ME UP???????

sounds like a selfish person. I regularily let him (beg him!) to fix my heli and set stuff up. He takes my heli home to do this
the setup and repairs are things that you need to be doing, in order to make sure they are done correctly and more important for you to learn how to do it, and become more aquainted with your bird. you need to become one with your heli, it's pilot, mechanic, diagnostics, caretaker ect.

it sounds to me like he's trying to screw you over til he catches you in skill and possibly passes you. you need to swap helis with him at least until he gets the pro version sorted out and it starts flying better that the plastoc one.
getting one of those little lipo checkers that quickly tell you if they're charged or not would be good too. then if the batteries are dead except one set you can swap them before he gets off the ground. :D

He's definitely doing it on purpose :hammer Set the snakes on him :whip

How 'bout not letting him take your heli home anymore, or doing a thorough pre-flight check to make sure he hasn't fiddled with anything, and yeah the lipo voltage checker is a must in this situation. BTW don't forget to check your Tx and Rx, never know what he might be doing to those. Personally I think he wants your helis, and he's trying to get you to quit the hobby. I agree with istandalone...you need to be doing the work on your bird, it's half the fun of the hobby anyways.

I agree I should do more on my own helis but, if you found someone as good as Ben (my mate) and you were as busy as me (I work hard) and you had lots of other hobbies (diving, boating, bikes, jungle trekking, climbing etc) and someone actually enjoys producing a serviceable heli (the other stuff was a joke for those of you who didnt get it!) most of the time.............wouldnt you just let him do it?
I wanna fly and without Ben I wouldn't fly as much! We have a mutually agreeable arrangement and long may it continue. You wont find Ben complainin'

JB...
I agree with you.....
Wazzer (what kind of name is that?) in in to subtle sabotage of the worst kind....
I think Mike's snake idea is a good one...or you could put a "Horse head" in his bed like the Godfather...
I think what is going to happen is he is going to get "better" than you..(the young guys always do) and then he will give you back your beat up old worn out plastic framed heli....and just keep your shiny new almost never flown EP Pro.
I think he is purposely keeping it grounded to reduce the "Flight Hours" before he takes it over
If I were you I would be very suspicious of this person....and maybe hire a PI to get to the bottom of it...
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods....been getting lots of light time here now that the weather is getting better...
Cheers :cheers

One thing you could do to slow him down would be to put make-up on his heli when he is not looking. If he is any kind of a man he will be too ashamed to fly it, giving you a chance to extend your lead.

All agree with the facts then! It is a conspiracy, I failed to mention that my Pro Peak charger strangely stopped working recently giving Ben the sole job of charging our 18 batteries! If that isn't strange, I don't know what is. He also has the monopoly on buying parts (its a long story) including my NEW CHARGER. No suprise then that this is taking some time to do!!! I like the snake idea (and I am one of the guys around here can can catch them!) The make up idea wont work. Ben has done some male modelling in the past.....need I say any more? Gonna stay ahead of the 'youngster' one way or another ha ha

PS. Please feel free to say what you like about Ben, his internet is down at the moment (and he is out at a local beauty pageant this evening....errr....not as an entrant I hope!!!). I am supposed to be getting some airtime with him tomorrow......that is if my helis can fly!!!

Do we LIKE anything about Ben?
(Is it true that he once got his tx antennae stuck in his nose?)

that settles it then.. sole supplier of parts and the only one to charge batteries... plus he was a male model.. you know those model types will do ANYTHING to get ahead in the game...he's out to get you!! or at least your heli's!! I suggest some serious rehab for him. that includes lots of scantly dressed women and lots of beer!

Even though he commandeered all of his heli's perhaps surreptitiously, at least he has given credit as to their source.

That he has !!
And Ben/Wazzer is a stand up dude...and best mate of JB...
But we can't let it go to his Head !!! being a male model ?? My wife thought she saw him Playgirl ?? Now what the heck is she doing looking at that magazine...
We also need to get all our "Shots" in at Wazzer....while his internet is down....!! ;)
That way he'll have plenty to catch up on when he's back on line....and know we missed him !!

think what you want. if in this hobby you constantly have someone else doing your rebuilds and setups your only short-changing yourself. what happens when your friend isn't there to do a setup? or gets hurt ect? then you'll be stuck doing the job, not fully knowing how everything needs to be set. you also started this thread to get opinions about your situation. don't poke jabs at people who only are honestly answering your question. i'll say it once again, if you don't know your heli inside and out, the only person losing is you.

he started this thread as a joke... his friend is without internet right now and he was having a little fun at his expense... of course it's always best to do the work yourself, that way when it fails, you can only blame yourself..but if I had a dedicated mechanic, you bet your a$$ I'd have him/her do all the work :D

Bob, I think Ben is after your new heli by convincing you that that it is unreliable, he will probably even offer to give your old one back while he "puts up" with the melon.:)

Istandalone, suggest you try another thread mate, I think you may be out of your depth on this one. I had, built and flew helis for two years before I knew Ben. Humour is an enjoyable passtime (as the others on this thread have found), try it!

That's where you missed out....JB never wanted honest answers...he was having some fun....they try to get "one up" on each other....
Go back and do a search for posts and threads from Jungle Bob and Wazzer and you;ll see they are best friends....what Mysticmead said was true.....Jb is is having a little fun...and I'll garantee you Wazzer (Ben) will get a big kick out of it and have a few words of his own to add...
The problem with e mails and typing is that you can't see the person laughing as they type....many e mails have been taken seriously that were meant as a total joke....

Right you Orrible lot, my internet is back up and running so i better get some jabs in before it goes down again!
Cant believe i was away for a couple days and I get ambushed while my back is turned!
Bob can say all he likes I’m currently in possession of his Carbon pro and ALL the batteries!!
Possession is 9/10ths and all that!!
He may just find it returned with the part I covet the most (9254) missing!!
Thing I’m most upset about is my plan has been foiled!
I thought it was pretty ingenious actually; I just keep telling bob how difficult it is to build and set up heli's, he gets scared and lets me do it.
When Bob and I met and we found we had a mutual interest in Helicopters and i found out he also flew model helicopters I used to beg him to let me work on his birds as often as possible. I had learnt so much from the internet Heli forums I was dieing to put it into practice.
Bob is perfectly capable of doing it all him self it just takes him a little longer. The problem is he’s just plain Lazy!
I also noticed Bob forgot to mention how well his T-Rex 450 SEV2 is flying at the moment after I have rebuilt it a few times for him!!
Forgot that bit didn’t he!
Anyway its back to the Workbench as I have a seized one way to contend with and some batteries to covet!!

tell me two things. wtf is that^ supposed to mean, and how am i to know your joking? you ask a question in a thread, so it looks serious. i meant no offense by anything, but we all can't know that this was meant as a jab at your buddy.

that's all fine and dandy. actually, now that i know it's a joke it's pretty funny. but hell, when someone answers the thread that he meant as a joke (and it wasn't really obvious that it was a joke) and in reponse i'm told that i'm "over my head" on this one, i'm going to get a bit pissed. instead of semi-insulting me, he could have just said in plain words that this is a hoax. or even pm'd me that it was just razing so as not to ruin the nature of the thread.

Hey, ISTANDALONE, don't worry about it mate. It really isn't an issue. No insult intended, in the future I will preface my threads with 'joke' 'hoax' 'serious' 'very serious' or 'fatal'. (JOKE) My thread did presume others were aware of our friendship (Ben and I) as we subscribe quite a lot.(SERIOUS) You can be forgiven for not getting the joke and I am sorry if I unintentionally insulted you.(SERIOUS) The out of your depth comment was actually a joke too.....maybe I need to look at my own humour!(SERIOUS) ok? Life is full of serious stuff so it's nice to have a laugh occasionally. Have a nice day mate
