When leveling the swashplate, how can I tell that the servo arms are positioned properly on the servos, as opposed to needing to make adjustments to the rod lengths?
In idle up at 50% throttle find the arm that best fits.. that is with little or no trim required to be parallel with the servo. One you find the best arm and it is centered work your way up from there..

Have you watched Bob's CCPM vid? Very helpful.

I'm noobie but I've read all your hints- have two questions:

1. If you use the washer and level bubbles- shouldn't you make sure the table and the heli are also level first before using the washer method?

2. If you use the allen wrench method which I am going to use : shouldn't you 90 deg arms first using subtrims, then level the swash at mid sticks first using ball links - then level at high and low sticks using ATV's according to trueblood' s proceedures?

1. Yes, you are leveling the swash to the frame (general direction) that the heli wants to go. Yes, you gotta pick a spot... If nothing is convenient, and known to be true to 90degrees with the mainshaft, get the mainshaft truly vertical, then orient - *level* the swash around that, then putz with the c.g. as a last step in any case...

2. Yeah, you got all that right.. 90dg servos, adjust with different arms, subtrim to finalize... All of this with idle up on, so you've got pos & neg cyclic. Check for binds at top and bottom cyclic. Some birds need level mixing arms!! Some (GAUI-200) seem not to.

You may have to adjust travel in the TX. Be sure to look for cyclic interaction, easy to forget...

I can't repeat how important it is to re-view Lord Finless's vids.

C. Shower, rinse, repeat. It takes a couple of tries, usually...

I saw an article in a magazine where somebody just took a large washer, cut a slot in it so it would pass around the main shaft, and then glued a couple of "level" tubes on it so it would read level in two directions. I don't know where he got the bubble tubes, but if you have an old level, there you go.

i just saw this post. you can get small leveling tubes from any RV online store. might be kind of large though.
