I have found numerous clubs but have not found one that is Heli friendly... Essentially most clubs on LI consider helis a "half rate" hobby...
Thanks...

You guys know of any fields that are big enough to fly a big bird at? Seaview Rotary Wings seems to be the biggest club in the area....but traveling out to staten island every time I wanna fly is a bit of a treck

How big? a 90? There are a bunch of club members who fly their 90s at the field. You will have to join the club though.

Yeah. I haven't flown in a while...but I've got the Aurora on "pre-order" for the next batch..whenever that is. Just out of curiosity, what is "the club"?
Do you know of any fields other than where the club flies?

Actually a couple of club members have the Aurora... Well.. the big stuff there are not many places to fly with out getting bothered. Now, some are flying their larger Electrics (Trex 600) over in Huntington off of Jericho west of 110 at a park... They don't fly Gas there though because of the noise.
I am also always looking for closer fields.. I live in Dix Hills.
Where do you live? If you live out near Exit 60ish off the LIE then the club field is real close... the club meets once a month and for the most part leaves everyone alone... no big deal. I dont go to the field often (actually only once!!) as I only have a TREX 450...and is fine for the local park or school yard.
Let me know if you find a couple of fields... send a PM to oteskate
Hes another long islander looking to fly.. he may also have some ideas of flying the bigger birds as he is not in a club right now.

I'm in Hauppauge myself. I started with a T450 two summers ago and got comfortable hovering around in all orientations and just doing some basic flying around. Going for the big guns now though. Landed a solid job and have the money to spend on it, so I'm just going for it. I'm right off vets highway just east of 111. There's a huge dirt area where they mine sand that I was thinking of flying in. There's a huge court right at the end of the road (dead end) after a hotel so I figure that would be a good place to use as landing...and the area where you could fly is far enough away from anything. Besides...who stays in a hotel during the day :YeaBaby:

Hey guys,
Add me to the list of guys looking for somewhere to fly.. or more people to fly with. I can fly my 500 in the front yard if I want to but would like to fly with others.
Mike where is the field in Huntington you are talking about? I live in Northport and grew up in Huntington so I am familiar with the area. Not the middle school on oakwood rd is it?
Thanks!

Sean,
Im not sure of the road but its west of 110 north of Jericho. You need to cross the tracks and its accross from the GM dealer. Not sure the name of the road. The only issue is.. last time I was there the Lawn was not cut.. no biggy if you have a take off platform... its great for electrics and no one bothers you other people walking their dogs. Typically I go to Half Hollows High School off of Wolf Hill Road.. its huge!!!
Let me know if you want to meet up... I was also speaking with oteskate and he should be up and running soon.. another long islander... of course you guys are always welcome to Join HELI and get use of their field.. though its a little far it is a relatively large field (not big enough for me though..) They also fly at night at the hunting location (typically after every meeting). Good bunch of guys...

Oh ok cool. I went to Oakwood Rd last night but thought you guys were talking about that park South of the Chevy dealer with all the ball fields. I guess its North of the Chevy dealer on the left side.. How often do guys meet there?
