I am in the middle of building my 600 pro,and am curios if I made a bad purchase on my receiver...I bought a spektrum ar6200 6 channel receiver to use w/ my dx7(on sale cheap at lhs). do I need the 7th channel? I will put a govenor at some point,do I need it for that? or can I use the 6 channel with out issue?thanks

Yes with only 6 channels you will only be able to run your gov in one mode or as an over-limiter. That is the boat i'm in as i only have a JR6102. I have a 7 channel receiver, but can't use it with my radio. Return the receiver, or just keep it if you have plans to get a 450 or 500 electric any time soon.

Can't you run the gyro with out remote sens and use the extra channel for head speed? The 401 has an option to use a sensitivity pot on the gyro itself. I find that once it is set up in head hold that no future tuning is needed.

Not that I'm aware of. I have a 401 on my Diablo and it only has one pot, which is used for adjusting the endpoints on the tail slider and has nothing to do with gain. The GY240 has a gain pot on it, though.
Correction: the 401 has two pots, but neither is for gain. The second pot is for setting the control delay.

Stupid question:
Does a 600N *need* a governor?
Can't you run it with throttle curves?
If not, are there any governors that simply use the throttle channel as an input like many electric heli ESCs? (As in 0-75% is actual throttle, >75% is governor headspeed setting?)

You don't really need one, but it's nice to keep a constant head speed. If you judiciously set your throttle curve, typically well below 100%, you can avoid overspeeding at the expense of having the extra power when you need it, e.g. when applying significant amounts of collective. I think having a governor and setting it to a fixed setting is better than no governor. The Multigov even gives you the option of using either full governor mode or overspeed mode for that one setting (or for each of the three settings if you have a spare radio channel).
