i'm new to the module radio. i'm running a 12FGH on 2.4gHZ.
i'd like to know are all Futaba modules backwards/forwards compatible? do the modules listed for the 9C radios work with the newer 12FG radios? ultimately i would like to run a 50MHZ module in my 12FG (not for my heli, though).

thanks.

No, the modules for the 9C are not compatible. You are limited to modules designed for the 12FG, 12Z and 14MZ.

That being said, there is a 50mHz module for the 12Z/14MZ listed on Tower Hobbies, so it should work fine with the 12FG.

Hi,
Just beware that the modules and the 12FG:s are region-coded.
You must buy a module that matches the region of the transmitter for it to work.

Steve,
The 12FG radio can be operated using a 2.4 ghz module, or a 72 mhz module or a 50 mhz or whatever band module. Just the module has to fit the radio. The 12FG, 12Z and 14MZ all use the same modules. NO the modules for the 9C, 9Z will not work in the 12FG. They are larger and the pins are different.
I am using 50 mhz with my 12Z. I have also used a 2,4ghz module in the transmitter. Takes about 1 minute to swap between the two and get the transmitter operating.

Being your in the USA, the modules and radios you buy from dealers here in the USA will be region coded for North America. Don't think you would want to buy outside North America as the equipment is more expensive. LOL

thanks for all the replies. i'm still having a tough time finding the transmitter modules on 50MHz for the 12FG. does anyone have any recommendations?

I use a 12Z on 50 mhz. The module is the same for the 12FG. Call Futaba Service Center and tell them your looking for a 50 mhz module for the 12Z-14MZ 12 FG. I don't think Tower advertise them, but they have them available.

You can probably find 50 mhz modules for the 12Z/14MZ on ebay. I know of few that used 50 mhz that probably have switched to 2.4 ghz and may be selling off there 50 mhz modules and receivers.

If your really interested in a 50 mhz setup. I have a 50 mhz module and 14 channel receiver that I would swap for a TM 14 2.4ghz module and 8 channel 2.4 ghz receiver.
