okay good. No, I am using 4 packs. 2 sets of 2 in parallel, then series those ends to the esc. Nothing major, tight links and over tighten a couple of things stripped this broke that hehe had broken parts before in the air LOL
It's pretty simple to build, and dont do the mistake I just corrected do NOT get an ar6100 rx apparently the metal frame will cause blind spots. Just got back for LHS with an ar6200
good luck with the build and keep us posted, hopefully I can make some headway this weekend - the maiden is getting closer :)

no, 401 does not come with rx. I am using a 401 as well. look up the ar6200 and you'll understand it more, its like 2 rx's in one.

Hey Lock.
Mines on the Way, if you could give me rundown on the equip. your using, such as recommended servo's etc would be great.. I screw up alot when it comes to buying servo's of the right physical size :) always too big, maybe i'm compensating for something ROFLMAO

Got pretty bored waiting for the rest of my stuff to do this build. I just started dry fitting things together. Next I knew its getting done. Very nice with the upgrades. I'm really impressed with this thing. Here's Some pics. Have fun. Mike

I am glad I came across this thread it has answered some of my questions I have about my big ol bird. I have had a heck of a time on linkage and set up and could never find a good manual that was correct. I am going to try all the linkages on the heliguy page. I will let you all know weather or not it works.

Looks good. The Fed Ex man dropped off some stuff last night so I should make some progress today. What servos are you using? I'm going with 3- DS821's and a Futaba S9254 for the tail. Mike

I had 4 of these but ran the tail in digital mode and fried it so now I have an S9650 on the tail.

Impatience got the best of me.......everything is NOT perfect and the winds were crazy but only having the cx2 and HBFP to fly since the B400 is grounded I HAD to try......
OMG THIS MONSTER IS SCARY!!!! I lifted off no big deal except for the awesome sound go forward may 10-20 feet eh still no big deal lift the nose up to come back to me tail in and I get a glimpse of the rotors HOLLY http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/smiley35.gif batman! this thing is crazy!!
Well they are forecasting high winds with 40MPH gusts today, so I'm gonna see if I can hook up with somone I know that has access to a school's gym.
I'll try to get some video, but it wont be 'flying' just hovering with some small movements.

Great glad you got all your issues squared away. Indoors will be nice to help get the helicopter trimmed out. Mike

I know, STUPID to even try in these winds but I couldn't help it the addiction was calling.
After cleaning the crap out of my pants I decided that is enough for tonight.
It's only 2 mins but I cant count how many times I almost lost it, still amazed I landed her with no damage.

The video doesnt really do the size justice, guess you have to see it in person for that.
Looks pretty good LockMD, if not a little twitchy, but I'm sure you were a little nervous.
Damn, you have got nerves of steel, I have never hovered my Trex 600 in my backyard.
Good job, it feels good to fly something you built with your own two hands doesn't it.

I was watching, it's getting close to the end, I'm thinking, man, he's doing fine. Then you go up, I see the trees in the backgound... :wow2: Yeah, you did come close a few times. Great job under the circumstances.
You could hear the blades chop harder and the motor work at times, was that the wind causing that?

Yes, I was thinking the flight before that was being filmed.......OMG more scary but would have been more entertaining. The winds kick up and I have to slam the throttle stick up from being pushed to the ground (motor/blades - power up) then in 2 secs I am way too high and have to cut to 25% stick or less (motor quiet blades still sound cool) just to get it down.

Well now that I am done, I can say yes it feels good to fly it knowing I built it, but I must admit during the build I almost gave up a number of times.
