Okay the build is complete, but I can’t remember greasing the feathering spindle when pushing it through the dampers – Is it important to do this.?

More interesting is what happens if you don’t grease the spindle.?

Many people including aftermarket dampener makers say no grease. For example the directions that come with K&B dampeners say only soapy water to install, no grease.

I've tried Align dampers with and without grease, did not notice a difference.

I think the grease is just to aid in installing the spindle without damaging the dampener. I didn't have any issues with an ungreased spindle either.

Some dampeners are actually rubber, petroleum based greases disolve rubber. If anything, use silicone grease on a synthetic dampener. The align dampeners quickly wear out anyway, so just buy some good ones; worth the $10.

Lubing the spindle or dampers isn;t necessary

The hard plastic aftermarket dampeners don't need grease.

Rubber dampeners need silicon grease or you will get the wobbles, especially at lower head speeds.
