Let me apologize for my ignorance from the beginning!

I got a CX2 about 3 months ago and decided I wanted to upgrade. I went ahead and bought the Realflight G4 and have been diligent with my practice for the past two months and finally bought the Blade 400 a couple of days ago.

It's been really windy in San Antonio, so I went ahead and flew it in my 2 car garage. 4 packs in I have no crashes (knock on wood) and have been able to hover it pretty well with no training gear (why bother), but I've got some VERY basic DX6i questions and so forth.

Again, I apoligize for the ignorance!

QUESTION 1: What should my gyro settings be? I read in the manual that they shouldn't go below 60%, and yet, the DX6i has both of them set at 50%. Should I bump them up?

QUESTION 2: How do I know if I'm in "heading hold" mode? I'm assuming that if I'm not in stunt mode on the toggle switch that I'm in "heading hold", but I just want to make sure.

QUESTION 3: Does the DX6i already come programmed with dual rates, and if so, which switch do I use to switch between them? I'm assuming that it is the "ELEV D/R" switch, but again, I'm not sure.

I really think it flew pretty well right out of the box, except that the tail tends to veer left about two or three inches in a hover and then it corrects itself and then does it again.

I plan on taking it slow and learn to fly it correctly.

I wish there was a BLADE 400 for Dummies thread.....hopefully I won't be that dummy for much longer!

I've got a vid of my first pack that I flew in my garage that I'll be posting hopefully in the next few days so you guys can see how much of a "newbie" I really am.

I've only flown 3 channel planes up until now, but I've already got the addiction for helis...

Thanks again....

1) as high as you can without a tail wag
2) anything above 50 is HH I have mine set at 71 (I think) and 25 (25%= 50% rate mode) I use that for setup.

3) not sure I understand the question.

The DX6i comes with the dual rate function. As set up at the factory, both rates are 100%
so you have to go in and change them to what you want. Most people probably leave the switch position "0" at 100% and set something else for switch position "1"

There are switches for elevators and aileron on the top front of the Transmitter. I found that going with 30% expo and 80% for the dual rate tamed things down a bit for hovering practice.

I will probably ease off on the expo and go back to 100% rate as I get more experience.

I was hoping for the "in person" type.
What's up with that?

Peru?
That would be the long way around to Colorado.

Somebody is training out here. The whole house shakes when they fly over.
I'd tell you what they look like but by the time I get out from under the bed and to a window, they're gone.

Thanks for the comments, one and all. The only way I can STOP being a "newbie" is by learning and getting the hang of it.

The learning curve on the helis is definitely a lot more than my planes....

I'm on my 8th pack now and still haven't crashed in the garage (see video in other post) and hopefully it'll stay that way until I get it outside and see what kind or REAL damage I can do.

I took the bird back to my LHS this morning because of some problems with the servos, so we'll see. If I stripped one out just hovering in the garage they are DEFINITELY going to do something about it...or I'll have to.

Thanks again!
