I should add that somewhere along the way I lost the ability to edit the original post, So it would probably be better to start a new thread.

Mike, when I asked Finless to sticky Sokal's vid thread also mentioned you could not edit your sticky post he said you should be able too

If not, maybe pm him directly to clear it up?

Can't believe how fast he has responded on both ocassions now.......you know he's gotta be super busy. Not that it has to be said (we all know) Thumbs up to Finless

Some of you probably saw this on the RC Groups forum.. but I put together and organized a LOT of info on the Blade 400... I call it my Blade 400 bible... just a gathering of info.. not much credit goes to me but from all of you. I started it just for myself in my research phase.. but then thought it might be helpful to others.

I update it fairly often

http://www.slyster.com/heli/blade400bible.pdf

Maybe add it to the links at the top of this sticky?

Thanks for the doc Slyster! I find it helpful. I was a little disappointed when I had trouble with the link a few days ago, but now it works and the info for a lot of things I had to search for before are already there!

Slyster...

Why not make that a static page instead of a PDF download if it is updated fairly often??

G,day guys. I'm just getting back into heli's and have bought a Blade 400. I've owned a few heli's in the past but never bothered to learn anything about them(lazy). I have my gain down to 70% in HH in the TX but still get tail wag. I have noticed on the Gyro itself that the gain pot is set half way between the + and -. Is this where it should be or should it be set all the way to the minus? Also my pushrod for the tail is set on the 4th hole out from the output shaft where is I notice a lot of guys saying it should be on the 3rd hole, will this also help the tail wag? Sorry for the basic questions but I really want to learn properly this time.
Thanks, Matt

I have a blade 400 3D. I made homemade training gear out of wooden dowels and styrofoam balls. I cut a 48" dowel in half to get 2 24 inch training gear dowels. DO I need longer training gear or is 24" fine? Do you do training gear length by the main rotor length?

i fyou have your own TX then the PNP moddle is a good choice as you can put your own ELEC in it and bypass the servo upgrades and put what servos you want from the start

its cheap to fix and does well
thiers many vids of this thing in action look around most on youtube

if you dont have a TX
then the RTF is perfect it comes with the DX6i $200 TX

servos/gyro are ok will do but some have found bad luck with them
like my self
i put another $300 in on servo/gyro upgrades and has been a night day diffreance

the titan/rexx are great helicopters but do cost$$$$ money if you happen to have a run in with the gound

so look into all your options and bugget and see whats best for you

Actually we did a point-to-point comparison on the most commonly broken parts, and in some cases, the Align parts were actually cheaper, but in all cases there was little or no difference in the prices of Blade 400 and Trex 450 parts - if there was a difference, it was pennies not dollars.

It is hard to compare the helis, because the airframes and mechanics are very similar, and it's the electronics that make the difference. So what I'm saying is, if you took a Trex frame and put Blade 400 parts on it, it wouldn't fly any better than a stock Blade 400. However, if you put good stuff on a Trex 450 and good stuff on a Blade 400 - they would also be very similar. I run similar setups on mine and I don't notice much difference between them, except the Trex has faster servos and is a bit more responsive. I originally thought I wouild get the Blade 400 so I could bash it around and save a little money on parts, but I might as well be bashing around the Trex too.

My setup and stuff is listed here:

Jasmine- if you were going to buy one of them, which would win? Thanks

If I was going to buy a new 450 size, I would probably go with the Beam. If I had to choose between the two I have, I'd say the Trex flies a bit better and if I could only have one it would be that one. It is worth about $150 more though.

Does that also the same setup for the 110 gyro. Don't seem to be much on this type.
I'm new to this hobby, so I probably be asking a lot of question.

setup on the 110 is simmular

just dont have the limit ability like the 401

but the rest is the same

Thanks, the reason I ask is because the servo does not go back to center for the tail. I have pulled the control rod of and checked for binding and things are working smooth.

It wont go back to center if your in HH mode.

ok because of the torque of the main rotor. Heading Hold
