I am looking to replace the tail servo on my B400. Right now I have an HS-81 and am looking to upgrade to a fast digital. I don't really want to spend the $80 on the JR 3400G, so I am looking at these 2. I already upgraded my collective servos to HS-65s so that is covered.

If it helps, I have the stock G110 gyro. Upgrading my Gyro in the future is not out of the question, but right now the budget would only allow for a servo.

Thanks for any input

The 9257 is designed to be a gyro servo and is faster.

no experience with 9257 - Love the 3400G - currently running 9650 and it is comparable to the 3400G.

i SERIOUSLY doubt you'd notice a difference between the 2... my good friend just swapped for the 9257 and he is VERY experienced, and he says 'its not all that different'. 9650 would work great.

Thanks for all of the replies. Are both considered "micro"?

I am leaning towards the 9257. It seams pretty smokin' although I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Thanks...

No, they are both "mini" servos.

ericm,

I'm trying to help a guy who also has the HS81 on the tail.

Did you have any problems with getting that servo to work on the tail?
He's saying that in rate mode the throw is reduced and in HH the servo does not correct properly and stays in place after rudder inputs, doesn't center.
He also says that when he installed the servo he needed to shorten the pushrod by cutting it. Did you do that also.

Thanks.

Yeah,

I am having a little difficulty dialing mine in too. It doesn't seem to center real good.

I used a Trex 450 boom mount kit which made for and easy install. I too had to shorten the rod. I have the clevis very close to servo shaft also.

My machine has not really been put through the paces yet, as I have not attempted FF.

I can tell you that in hover, the does not hold very well. Also even if I give it more gain, I get tail wag. I have not tried it in HH just rate mode.

Not being a digital servo, I assumed that I would not even attempt it in HH.

It never really seems to trim consistently from pack to pack either.

This is why I was looking into a good digital servo. Hoping for some consistency and the ability to run in HH.

Thats exactly how it is suppose to work. No HH gyro will center in HH mode its suppose to hold. Tell him to watch finless' videos.

I have the 9650 tail servo on a gy401 and love it. Could it be the gyro? . Anyway go with the 9257 because I trust rudderman more than me.

I have your same setup and like it alot, although, I think the 3400G felt a little better.

In all that wind you are flying in - how can you tell.:rolling

Actually that makes it more noticeable, if it were calm not sure I could tell the difference. Have to wait for a calm day to say for sure. I've never noticed us having this much constant winds for so long - reckon its the heli thing :)
