View Full Version : Help with Creater painting problem

I know this thing is only two days old but I have tried a repaint and its pretty good but I'm having an issue with the factory mirrored TRex sticker area on the Starboard side of the 450SE.
I got everything as covered as I can but I keep getting an outline showing up where the mirrored sticker is on the starboard side and I can't get ride of it
I've read over the manual and tried everything I can think including extending the color past where it is on the sheet and also completely removing it from the sheet and replacing it with white but I can't get ride of it.
Anyone have any ideas?

best bet is to drop phoenix an email support@phoenix-sim.com

Yeah maybe I will
First I should say that I completely understand that this is a Beta program, quite frankly that fact they they are offering such a program for free is just amazing as I have been involved with modeling and paint programs via MS Flight Sim and they all are pay for programs.
Given that, I'm sure they will be getting a lot of support question and will be ironing out a lot of bugs and issues as they go along so its perfectly understandable that there will be problems and again given its for free you can't argue with that.
After spending a bit more time with this and given my small amount of knowledge of modeling and painting via FS I think what is happening here is that, as the starboard side decal is a separate decal if you will so that the mirroring of the decal shows up correctly it essentially is like another part that is sitting on top of the canopy which is probably modeled (not painted) in white and with is edge being so flat and small the paint program is having a hard time wrapping the edge of it with the color so it bleeds through.
If this is true, so long as you use the same color as the model you probably won't have a problem...I think.
So I don't know if there is really anything that can be done about it unless we could actually have access to the program that can actually change the model so it could be removed.
It's funny as it barely shows up in the Creator program but it really shows up in the sim.
I have played around a bit with the thing they call the UV Mapping Tool and maybe there's something there that can be done but so far I haven't figured out a way to get it to solve this problem but I wouldn't say I really know what I'm doing either. So far I think this has more to do with the modeling as far as its relation to the paint and can't be used to change that actually model but I could be wrong.
Anyway, if I or someone doesn't figure this out in awhile I'll probably send them a mail about it just so that they are aware.
Thanks
WBFAir,
If you use somthing like Gimp / Photoshop to edit your bitmap, you can use the UV in a separate layer and reduce the opacity while working on the canopy.
The 450 has a separate part for the Trex sticker (So it's not mirrored on one side as my V2 canopy is ). You can see this easier with the UV overlay. (The part in front of the canopy)
You'll be able to find the shape in the canopy, cu out and rotate to fit.
Make sure you color slightly outside the UV mask to avoid any 'cracks'.
You can probably do the same thing in the editor itself, but don't ask me how. :)

Yeah I'm using PS Pro and although I didn't overlay the UV bitmap, I tried coloring the entire mirrored sticker, including going a bit past the outline of the original sticker and that didn't fix it. I also tried completely removing the sticker from the bitmap and replace it with white so it wouldn't recognize it.
When I did that I would get a bare spot on the helo in Creator and so I thought, good its gone but then the second I hit any area of the the white, even with just the brush set at 1, it would fill the whole area instantaneously with blue again and was just as before.
Thats why I think this is more of a model problem as I mentioned before as although it doesn't look like it in the model, it looks like it is via the UV bit map in creator as you can see it has a separate UV map for just that sticker when you UV the whole canopy and then view the bitmap
I could be wrong but I think the sticker is basically another part essentially and is completely flat so when it is overladed and colored, given the pixel size these things probably work under it just can't wrap the edge as its to small so it shows up.
Anyway, thanks for the idea and btw by looking at your bit map I guess your the guy who made the V2 that I downloaded yesterday which is really cool so thanks for that.

Maybe it's a small model mapping error that doesn't show with the original model texture.
That can't be fixed by altering the bitmaps, it has to be adjusted on the 3d model by the creator.
Try adding a collar of the same colour around the bit to the top-left of the main canopy in the 2D texture view - add a fair bit more cos I think its mipmapping which is screwing that up.

Seems they fixed it already

What do you mean Eric?
I tried the new h version an it didn't do anything an I don't see updates to version of the Creator yet, still the 1.01a Beta

I saw they released a new T450SE on 21-03-08 and assumed that one had fixed mapping.
Here's what they say:
"Due to a large number of requests, this model has been re-released with improved UV mapping so that it is more compatible with our PhoenixCreator software."
If your problem is not fixed,
Than i'm sorry for the confusion.

Oh OK Eric I didn't know that.
Yeah I went back to their download site and downloaded it and yeah I has two complete sides to the canopy now.
When I get a chance I'll have to perform the color change to that one.
Thanks a lot for the heads up!

No problem, that's what we are here for.
