gyro placement

i know different gyros mount on different plains but. why dont anbody mount it on the tail boom midway like the double fin on the tailboom of a blade 400.

I would think for protection reasons I wouldn't want it there. My tail booms go a lot when I crash.

thks but aside from safty would it make a cheaper gyro work better.

No, the gyro will actually work best directly centered under the main shaft. If you put it out on the boom it will be destroyed on hard landing and will cause a large imbalance in your Center of Gravity. Not a good idea.

thats what i needed to know . i seen a heli with it on the tail boom by the fin ab out midway. it was just a pic. no explaination. why doesent anyone mount it under the main frame.
