Hello,

I'm new to this but I have a 960x234 resolution LCD module with composite video input I want to use with a camera/tx/rx setup. I would like the video to display properly in correct aspect ratio instead of stretching a 4:3 image. To do this, it seem I will need a wide aspect composite video source. Since, as I understand, the transmitter and receiver do not much care what the aspect is, that means I have to get this wide aspect on the camera. I plan to use a 171 (420 lines), 151 (480 lines) or 191 (520 lines) cam on my heli. Do I actually need a cam specifically capable of widescreen or can I get a different lense for one of those cams so that the signal that ends up at the composite video input to my 960x234 pixel LCD displays in proper widescreen aspect?

Thanks a lot guys

On the most part the lens will not work..
You need the camera to be widescreen as well as the monitor..

I will say some LCD monitors and TV's allow for "Zooming" so if you zoomed a 4:3 format, it may fill the whole widescreen LCD monitor instead of having "bars" on each side... but of course it would chopt the top and bottom of the video... (and lose resolution)

This is my understanding.

I am sure others will chime in..

Whatever the camera outputs will be what the aspect is.
So, if you are displaying a wider shot on a 4:3 monitor/tv, then it should end up with black bars on the left and right. The reverse is true if you have an SD (4:3) aspect source and play it back on you wide screen... you get black bars on top and bottom.

My set-up is a wide screen HD cam and I am currently viewing it with my cheap wide screen portable DVD player. It works perfectly.
