Bob,

There is some truth to that. However, some people have reported gears stripping in flight.
It's a hard thing to qualify because of the limited number of reports and the thousands of Blade 400's that were sold to date. However, many have chosen to replace the servos to reduce the worry and risk involved.
I have almost 100 basic flights with the stock servos and zero in flight failures. I have had to replace the gears several times following crashes.
If E-flite was to come out with karbonite or metal gear sets I'd use them in the stock servos, for sure.

Goodge,

They are exactly the same.
No problem using the stock servo horns with the Spektrum sets.

Having your gears in the servo break isn't saving any other part from breaking. Its just a giant pain in the A$$ having to replace gears all the time.

Haha, replace them all the time? Where are you getting these mythical gear sets? ;) I'm still trying to get my first set!

I got 4 sets last week from Amainhobbies.com. That said I've only had to replace 1 set of gears so far, but I got more because of the reputation more than anything.

I am not sure I want to go Hitec, or with the JR flight pack (with the 3400G in it).
