There is some truth to that. However, some people have reported gears stripping in flight.
It's a hard thing to qualify because of the limited number of reports and the thousands of Blade 400's that were sold to date. However, many have chosen to replace the servos to reduce the worry and risk involved.
I have almost 100 basic flights with the stock servos and zero in flight failures. I have had to replace the gears several times following crashes.
If E-flite was to come out with karbonite or metal gear sets I'd use them in the stock servos, for sure.
