View Full Version : Switched over to DX7/AR7000

Finally switched my setup to a DX7/AR7000 and I must say it does feel more connected with faster response on cyclic. Even pitch pumping feels a bit more smooth since the cyclic servos are now all moving together instead of lagging.

Took advantage of the buy a Spektrum/JR radio + receiver to get another receiver for free. The new AR7000 says its even 'Flight Log' compatible so I guess the new firmware upgrade added a few more features than just 'QuickConnect'.

Also, I tried power cycling the receiver and I get control back within 100-200ms (very fast) so hopefully there will be no brown-out situations in the future.

Nice welcome to 2.4 ;)

Now I don't have to be paranoid about frequency overlap (had a couple scares).:YeaBaby:

I've just gone from DX7 to 9303 - regrets bigtime ! - the DX7 much easier to program and I think feels nicer too !

The nice thing about the DX7 for me was the firmware was the same as the JR 7202 and it only took me 10 minutes to transfer my settings for the T450 and L500. I debated with myself over the X9303 but glad I kept it simple.

Now I just need to get one of those Lipo TX packs. It seems the NiMh start losing capacity after about 4-6 months.

True RC has some nice TX Lipo packs. I can go months without a charge.

WoW thats gr8 news, did u test this several times ? I didn't know they were going to improve this, I have a AR7000 coming tomorrw along with my kit, i canni wait.
With the power cycling on my 450 rex u can wait anything from 3-30 secs, sometimes more.
So are the tiny AR600 or whatever they're called the same now, as in only xxx-ms to reboot ?

Give it a week to two and use the tx, you'll think otherwise. I sold my 2.4 9303 and I should not have, arg!

I did and it seemed consistent with the extra AR7000 that I bought. The one that came with the DX7 must be older because it took about 2-5 seconds to reconnect when I power cycled it. When the new one comes in from the 2.4GHz deal I'll probably send the one that came with the tx back to Spektrum for an upgrade.

I think the AR6200 are upgradeable (not sure about the other AR6XXX series) and a guy I fly with sent all his in to be changed over. Next time I see him I'll ask if he checked the reconnect speed.

Soon... it will be nice to not worry about charging the pack and at least with lipos I know the voltage range better than NiMh.

BTW - Congrats Jeremy, I saw you got some video time at BHam and being introduced by Henry Caldwell. Did you drive all the way over from Tx?

Yes I did... 560 miles. Glad that drive is over.

I was thinking about driving over to the LV Fun Fly this weekend but too many commitments already. That would only be about 360 miles and I thought that was long.

360 miles is nothing.... 5 hours if you don't play around.

I found out that both the AR6100 and AR6200 are upgradeable but the AR6100 has a different version number of the firmware than the AR6200.
