I needed a little bit of help deciding on which z20 motor to get . I noticed that there are three different KV option for it and didn't know what the Kv rated stood for (980 1700, 1470)

So far stock H550 With 50 A esc and the guai 1000W(KV800) motor I'm not looking for extreme power since I'm just into sports flying right now.

The KV stands for rpm per volt.....so for the 980 it is 22v X 980 = 21560 rpms of the motor...then you take your gear ratio....like 9.43 and you would have 2033 rpm's of head speed.

So far with stock gearing most people are using the 980kv with a 14t pinion....it is good for sport flying, mild 3d such as loops, rolls, inverted, stall turns, etc.

i have been flying it for several weeks and am very happy with it.

If you do a search of the forum on Z20 you will get lots of good info.

Lately i have seen a few using the higher KV motors, but the 980 seems to be the most accepted and used. it is also very easy on the smaller lipo packs like 2100 or 2200.

You can't go wrong with the Z20 -980..
