OK... just completed the 4 blade tail for the Trex450. You can see a couple of pics below as well as my "fleet" :)

I know a lot of you have been waiting for this. So now's your chance to purchase one. The cost will be $100 USD which includes shipping in North America. If you are outside of North America, ask and I can figure out the cost difference... it may only be a buck or two. If that's the case, I'll cover it.

The one you see here in the pics is available for also immediately deliver, I just need to polish the metal and do some cosmetic stuff like that. Any others may have a waiting period of about 2-3 weeks depending on the number of orders I have.

Now, this is how I'll do it.... basically, first in, first out. I'll use PayPal to keep track of who pays first, second, third etc... and manufacture and ship orders in that order. You can send payment to : sales (at) double-dragon-ebooks.com

Hope you like.

BTW... spoke with my LHS again. Apparrently I had it wrong. Align is coming out with only 3-4 main rotors for the T450 and I guess the 600. But not multi-tail rotors. :thinking

Thanks for your support.

Hi, Don't worry. I don't plan on going anywhere. I'll continue to offer them until I get tired of making them... at one a week, or even one a month. I'll continue making them whenever people order them.

BTW... if you (or anyone ordering) tells me what kind of helicopter you are putting it on... ie... for a scale model, I'll try to make it look like the full scale version IF I can. Since these are "one off" (meaning I make them for each order manually), I can try to incorporate these details. It makes it more fun for me and I don't mind since this is my hobby. I'm currently doing one for a "blackhawk" scale heli and I did some research last night, thinking of a way to make it more "scale".

Forgot to mention that I also plan on playing with anodizing. It'll be hard to match the current colors exactly, but for my scorpion project... I plan on making a new black button for the head that looks more "scale"... larger and flatter... so I can apply this to the tails I make.

I wanted to share this with those interested. I don't think I'll be able to do this for the T450, but I may be able to do something similar for a T600 or larger. Take a look at this tail rotor from a BlackHawk.

Notice how small the linkages are compared to the tail rotor shaft. Also note, the center of the rotor shaft is hollow and allows the linkages to be actuated with a center shaft that moves inside an outshaft without the need for external linkages from a swash plate... cool design.

I may try this as an experiment for a future T600 I have in mind.

These are the kinds of project I like to play with.

I am doing an S-76 . But it a 450 size so I really worried about it looking very scale. but i am concerned if it is the tail rotor head and pitch spider or is it just the rotor head?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but.... I'll give it a try.

The ones I make include the head and the tail pitch slider. It would have to be, otherwise how would it work. The stock tail pitch slider won't work on a multi-blade tail?

yes that answers my question. I was asking b/c in the first pic above I didn't see the tail pitch slider so I was just making sure that it included it

would you mind posting pics of the tail pitch slider and maybe even a video of it flying

I'd love to. :YeaBaby: I plan on having a website set up soon with more pictures. Maybe even give instructions on how to make it yourself. But you need the machines (Metal Lathe, Milling Machine, rotary milling table as well as a 1mm drill bits) to do it. I'll let you know when it's complete. But I think the people that bought it will have videos up before I can get it done.

As of last week, his mill broke and he won't be making them for a while. There is another thread on here somewhere that explaines exactly what happened. I guess we will have to be patient...

Wow each tail rotor blade of this Blackhawk is bigger than my entire T600, I want one UH-60 pls.
More seriously, I have a scale MD-500E (T-600E) and wanted a 4 bladed tail rotor, is that feasable and how much will it cost?
Thanks.

This is my MD-500E

I also wanted a 5 bladed main rotor head, anyone knows where I can get one?

Thanks.

Currently, the available 5 blade main heads are from Vario, OF Helitechnik, and Century. The only problem is they are all intended for 60-90, or larger helis and don't look right on a 50 size. Century has a 50 size multi head coming, but they are notorious for slow and no availability...

I'd go 5 blades but $300+ for the head, two more gyros and a $200 mixer is all thats stopping me. oh yeah, 2.5 more sets of blades too.

Hi All,
Right now I'm not taking any orders. I ran into a technical problem producing the "swash plate" for lack of a better word... for the multi blade tail. The ones I'm making are too big (or my equipment is too big...mill that is :o) ...I found that it's necessary to replace the stock align shaft with a longer one about 6-7mm to make room for the swash.

I can make the hubs easily enough now. I don't have a reliable way of controlling it.

I need to rebuilt by :BSS 3 blade main head that I bought from Helidirect and made by LightningHeli....

Hey DDragon, I'm still crossing my fingers that you will have all the kinks worked out by the end of the summer. My S76 is rapidly approaching flying status!

Sorry to hear about the quad head. I have been watching one on Ebay for a while now but hesitant to buy it after hearing all of this. Let me know how your "kit" turns out.

Thanks. Yeah, it's kind of funny too... after going over the parts I have to rebuild to get the 3 bladed head working I realized I was only using the grips and could build a multi head from scratch. They are actually a lot easier to build than the multi tail.

Hey Dd - any updates on your multi tail?

No, nothing yet. I'm have the hub worked out as you can see. But the control yoke I designed it a little sloppy. The problem is I know how to do it after looking at a century control yoke. But the t450 tail is so small, I don't have the tools to do it.

Been too busy flying and other stuff. I'm thinking of getting back into this in the fall. Maybe bring someone else into the project that wants to help develop it.

I'd like to know if you're giving any thought to the 500 class birds? I'd love to get a 4 blade tail on my scale birds!
