I've been flying helis for several years now and can do FFF flight, flips, rolls, stall turns, etc... and would like to try something cool like an EDF jet. I had a Typhoon "foamy" type plane and was able to fly it with no issues. Will a jet like this Hobby Lobby F-18 be too much?

I can recommend the Phase 3 EF-16 EDF Jet. I've only ever flown helis and until recently wings and can fly the EF16 with no problems

i can vouch for the ef16 (made by phase 3) being a very good quality kit for the $. the only thing you'll need to supply is servos (2 micro) your own rx and lipos. oh, two 12" servo extensions too, the directions don't say you need them but you do. the build is pretty easy and straight-forward. i ruined mine on the first attempt at flight but i chalk that up to user error and not bad quality components. had i not pulled back on the elevons all the way it wouldn't have crashed. some say this jet can take a few crashes and still be able to glue it up to fly more. mine totalled itself on the first crash. even still, you've said you can fly a typhoon so you have more experience then i did/do. just make sure if you decide to build one, to re-inforce the tail section well. there are a few pics on the other "edf foamy" thread here. here's a link.

Phase 3 EF-16 all the way!:YeaBaby:

Cheap and FAAAAST.

Put a 3S Kong Power 2200 in it from readyheli.com and reinforce the tail with some 1/32 plywood. You will be glad you did!

Just ordered one after watching some of the videos. Looks like a blast. What servos are you guys using? I was going to go with some HS81's. What about lipos? GrandRC has a great deal going on a pair of DN Power 20c lipos. Will they be sufficient?

Also, anyone make a Thunderbirds complete sticker set for it?

I am using hs-55s, dont know much about the 81s but if they are similar to the 55s then you should be fine.

Take a look at this thread.http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=50688

also, rcgroups has a few really long threads on it in the foamy edf section.

I fly a Phase 3 F-16 to give me a break from the Heli every once in a while.

Flying a stock plane at 70-80mph is a good speed break from our relatively slower Helis.

The best thing about it is flies well on 3s2200 packs (Trex 450 or 500) and is relatively inexpensive. Flies even better on 4S (with upgraded motor and larger ESC).

You can find out all you want to know and more at the main RC Groups Phase 3 F-16 thread:

The key things to do are to box the tail and re-glue the brass sleeves for the tailerons
