My neighbor is looking to buy a Belt CP from a retailer here in the States. But so many places are sold out of them.
Has anybody recently had any luck buying one froma US distributor?
Thanks...

I also have a Belt. I Do enjoy flying it. However, I got spoiled flying a buddies T-rex. You just can't compare the 2. Tell your friend to save a few extra more dollars and by a Rex. I just did. My Belt will be going up for sale soon...lol....He can get some good buys on E-bay. Tons of T-rex's for sale. Good luck

I have replaced my Belt-CP receiver and after a crash a friend was making many changes to it now.... it's worse that it's ever been. Do you have pictures of the settings on your Belt-CP? By setting I mean, how the servo arms should be at middle stick, low and high. I was able to assemble a TREX 500 using Bob's videos but the Belt-CP is a mistery to me. I would like to re-assemble it and put it up in the air. Right now the blades have more negative that anything else only at full throttle starts to get some possitive but not enough to really fly it.

If you have a computer radio, go to swash setting and give a negative value to the pitch and it will correct the swash movement. Program normal pitch curve at this setting to start 50-50-50-75-100. and with idle up at 0-25-50-75-100. With the throttle stick at 0 on normal mode, make sure all the servo arms are at 90 deg from the servo body. make sure the swash is level , all the mixing arms at straight horizontal with the flybar at horizontal(parallel to flybar), and the blade pith at 0 degrees. push the throttle stick up and the pitch should go up(swash plate should go up). Adjust you EPA if the servos are binding at the extremes of travel.

Thanks, the heli was modified by two people in the past and they moved the linkage and servo arms. Since it wasn't flyable after that, I went back to basics and now I'm setting up the electronics pretty much from scratch.
So the servo arms have to be also 90 degrees on this heli. Thanks for confirming.
What does it mean if when I power up the heli the servo arms are in one position and as soon as I turn the radio on the aileron raises??? I reset the settings on my radio to have 100% where it should and 0% where it should (no trimming at all).
I only get 11 degress of pitch max. I was told that during set up, I should be getting 22 degrees. Does this Belt-CP gives you only 11 degree pitch or somethign is wrong at my end?

A buddy just told me that the 22 degrees is +11/-11 = 22 so I'm all set with that question. Now I just need to know why my servo arm moves when I powered up the radio and everything on the radio is to factory default 100% and 0 degree when in half throttle.

As you are finding out the belt is not a very hi quality heli. If you are not experienced setting up ccpm and are not willing to spend $$$$ on upgrades my advice is to buy a quality heli. By the time you spend the cash on upgrades for this mediocre heli you could have bought a really nice quality machine. Tinkering with this machine seems to be more of a passion than anything else. Sell it and cut your losses.

You have to get your servos and linkages at 90 degrees WITH the TX switched on. And once you have done that. You need to lengthen or shorten the links going to the swash to get it level.

I really don't agree. For under $200 you get an RTF beginner's collective pitch heli with all the electronics, tons of support and cheap replacement parts. If you don't like the Belt, go hang out at another Forum. Telling someone they have a crappy machine won't get them flying.
Merlin - To setup the Belt properly -
Unplug 2 of the motor wires. Doesn't matter which 2, it's just to keep the blades from spinning while you're workin on it.
Disconnect the linkage from all the servos.
With the throttle all the way down, plug in the battery. The servos will set themselves to the middle of their travel. Wait for the gyro to setup as sometimes the tail servo will set just before the gyro is done setting up.
Unplug the battery and make sure that all the servo arms are at a 90 degree angle to the servos. If they're not, take the servo arm off and reposition it. Sometimes you can't get it exact, it may be one tooth either way, but get them as close as you can.
When the servo arms are positioned correctly, make sure the Tx is on, place the throttle in the middle of it's travel, move the Idle Up switch to the on position. (Towards you)
The Hov.Pit dial should be centered (at the 12 o'clock position) and the Pit. Trim should be centered (12 o'clock position).
Adjust all 3 linkages so that the swash is level. That is, the swash should be at a 90 degree angle to the main shaft.
With the swash level, and the flybar level (very important!) adjust the pitch of the main blades to 0 degrees. Do the same for the flybar blades.
The Belts vary a little on how much pitch you can get. If you can get anywhere from -8 to -10 and +8 to +12 you'll be ok.
The tail rotor is a matter of trial and error. If you start with +3-5 degrees of pitch,
you'll be in the ball park.
When you're ready to fly -
Make sure the Idle Up switch is off.
Throttle all the way down.
Hov.Pit dial to 10 o'clock position.
Pit.Trim dial to 1 0'clock position.
The Belt should lift with the throttle just above the mid position.
Following these steps will get you a stable hover.
Pay no attention to the critics, the Belt flies just fine when it's setup properly. Although you won't be able to do competitive 3d, it will do loops and rolls with Idle Up engaged.
We're here to help, don't hesitate to ask questions here. If you like flying you can upgrade the Belt a little at a time and end up with what is essentially a Trex for a lot less money.
And welcome to the Belt Forum.

mnwizard you sound quite passionate about your belt. I hear what your saying but disagree. I own a belt and just think there is so many better choices. I bought mine with the stock servos 8 gram units that stripped out before they even got of the ground. Ended up with hitec 65 hbs. $30 each the gyro, crap switched to a walkera 007 $50 65mg on tail $30. So what do you think good deal huh. Still ended up with a mediocre heli. Ill hang out wherever I please.

Well your first mistake was putting $30 servos on the belt. Thats like putting a Ferrari engine in a Mazda. Sg90's work great and you could of gotten all four for less than the price of one of those.
And you don't need to put lots of upgrades in the belt for it to fly well. All i did in the beginning was change out the main blades with align blades and it flew great.
And wizard he actaully said the belt was a mediocre or not hi quality heli. DUH, its only 200 bucks, kinda stating the obvious. But it is the best mediocre heli you can buy for that cheap. And your right i have alot of fun "tinkering" and modifying it. Thats part of the fun. But it still flys great for a beginner and its what got me here.
Cheers bro and you can definitely share your opinions here anytime you want. We have some great debates here in this section.

Come on guys if you wanna go round getting miffed cos others have a different opinion then go look on another forum - we are all mates here.
There are always two sides to a coin. In a way, Thunderhead had a point in that the Belt IS a mediocre cheap machine, which requires a lot of mods and upgrading to get it as a far as a good machine, and if you want to go straight in, then you will end up spending a lot more money on say a Trex 450V2 or HDX450 etc......
....but if you want to learn about r/c helis, and not just flying them, this is a fine machine to mod and upgrade with readily available alternative parts from many sources. Yes you will end up with a machine which is far from the original Belt, but the learning processes of setup mods etc will stand you in good stead for any heli.
The latter route was/is the one I chose to follow, and I believe I am richer in knowledge and friendships because of it.......
Just my humble opinion guys!!!!!!!

My point is, this is the Belt CP forum where guys can come for help with their Belts.
If you don't like the Belt, than why would you hang out here?
And I repeat, telling a guy he has a crappy heli doesn't help him get it into the air.

Belt with the right servo's and Proper Head setup can fly just as nice as any. (nothing wrong with esky gyro's if you dont know how to set them thats your problem) .
Yes its an under 200 dollar 450 helicopter RTF, what did you expect to get a Trex? even after upgrading the belt with Trex Head and tail and servo's to make it fly just as good as the Trex your still way under the cost of a RTF Trex, so no matter how you look at it its a great deal.
if he wants something better afterwards he can simply pick up the EXI 450 kit and slam in his electronics from the Belt and have a full blown Trex 450... and still all under the cost of just the price of the Trex Kit.

I don't think the Belt is crappy either, but it IS mediocre and cheap. Sometimes I wished I had just bought a Trex from the outset, and save all the tinkering and money on upgrades which i would have on a Trex anyway. But, that is exactly it. This is a fun hobby [as all should be] and if one gets ones kicks making a mediocre heli into a pretty good one - as mine is now - then so be it, and the "journey" has been a very eventful one too. Jack, if he wants to hover over this BeltCP forum , the let him, but yes, no need to tell us we have a crap copter, cos mine and many of ours are not.

If he wants to hover around here no problem, or make silly comments like the rest of us, no problem. But if a guy is here looking for help, telling him he's got crap isn't gonna help him.
Help him solve the problem with what he's got. Telling him to go buy a Trex doesn't help and it may not be an option for everybody.
