I see Scorpion has their new HK-3026 line available...

Has anyone tried one yet and/or compared it to the Z and Tanic motors.

here is the link

The 3026-1210 and 1000 look promising......

If you have used one, please post any info you have.....

Thanks

I'm curious too! I've wanted a Scorpion in my Hurri since before I had it lol. I wana get the 3026-14 or -16 but it has to wait 'til after my vacation. I heard the -10 is for sport flying, no 3D, the -12 is for mild 3D, the -14 is for medium 3D and the -16 is for the absolutely mad 3D flying that I just can't do yet, lol. I don't think the 1900kV version would really work well on the Hurri, seems too high of an rpm. If it's as strong and efficient as the 2221-8 and -6 that my friends fly, I will get one for sure! My RCP 1100kV is a red hot motor...seriously it comes down at around 160 degrees. It's probably the underpowered 50A GAUI ESC causing the heat, but yeah that's HOT!

Ready Heli told me they were testing and would carry Scopions for the H550. But nohting since they said that.

Wow on the 14 or 16 ! I was thinking more on the lines of the 10 or 12 being that the KV's were more in line with the Z30 or RCP 1100 motors.

I would like a more powerful motor than the Z20 but would like to be able to use 3300 lipos.

Guess I'll have to wait till RH does their testing and posts some results or maybe when some freaks get one and use an Eagle tree on it.

There is not info posted on the Z or Tanic motors as far as specs. Or does anybody have any good specs on the Z30 serieis..??

couldn't we just use the scorpion motor that's designed for the trex 500? with the correct gearing?

These are the Scorpions designed for the 500! Yeah I think I was going off the stats for the 500. the 3026-10 or -12 might be better suited for the Hurri. Thanks for catching that, lol.

I just got my HK-3026-1000 yesterday. I had a bad crash at the Birmingham fly-in this past weekend, so I thought I'd replace the motor too. This thing is "SHARP". I was wanting to get something like a Z20-980, but I talked with Lucicen at innov8tive and he told me the 1000Kv was back in stock, so I jumped on it. Also, the packaging is awesome.

Please post any info you can on this motor when you can......power cunsuption, pinion, gearing, etc.

I'm really interested in getting one and I would like to meakesure I get the right one..

What kind of flying do you do? Hard 3D, mild, wild ?/

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

i have the HK-3026-1210 and the thing is absolutely amazing...i havent started beating on it hard yet but i run it at about 90% with a 13 tooth pinion and a 20T autorotation gear and this thing has a lot of power on climb outs big time. i estimated it to be around 2300rpm...

...im still trying to break all the parts in and check them after flights as the heli has only flown a few times...and i find this motor to be far better than the RCP motor that i had...

I just mounted the new motor, pinion, and 20T One way gear this morning. The pinion mesh is perfect with just a little "tick" between the pinion and front gear. Here's my gearing setup: 23T RevCo-->68T RevCo front gear-->20T OneWay-->61T Main. Should give me around 2000 rpm on 6s Lipo and 1900 on the 7s A123. My flying is going to be mild for now. I think I got a little ahead of myself at the fun-fly and crashed. I've been practicing all 8 hovering orientations and 4 flight orientations on the sim. That's all I'm going to be doing in "real-life".

Mike, I wish I could get her in the air fast, but I've made a deal with my wife that I'd only spend $$ on helis that came from the selling of the kits and parts that I have. I must sell a few items to get the cash to finish the repair job. I need a canopy, main shaft, mixer arms, blades, seesaw, washout arms, tail boom, boom supports......With that said, anyone interested in a Wagner power painter, Sig Colt kit or a GWS Stearman PT-17?

i've had an HK3026-1200 and a HK3026 kit that's wound for 915Kv for quite a while now but unfortunately i've not had the weather to get them tested yet, but i will say that the previous 3032 kit that i had used to throw my 550mm bladed hurri around the sky no problems! :smokin:

I Also just got the HK-3026-1210 on my hurri,

If I get my hands on a tail output shaft before upcoming Sunday,
I will putt on some flights, else ill have to wait until I receive my order
from RH, I hope it ships fast to NL

8S A123
pinion 21T (revco)
Main gear 68T (revco)
500mm RCP blades

Should give me somewhere about 2460 HS
Throttle curve to 60% gives me 2360 HS
tested that on the table.

Also ordered a 19T Revco, theoraticly that should put me to: 2220 HS

Ill keep ya posted once i get more data

yea me too... i am running the z20 now but if the new gearing doesnt give me enough power still i would like to get a new motor that could run on 2200mah batteries... i have this rcp 1100kv just sitting here because it would kill the 2200s lol

I highly doubht you will find a motor that will give performance and any time on 2200mah packs. although going to 2500 25c packs will give 4.5 minutes or better depending on motor.

Unfortunately I cannot open the picture. What is the advantage to put the pictures to image shack? As I experienced, the pictures uploaded to the helifreak server work always, fast and reliable...

thanks, WuTangcl !!

OK, today was a nice day to test,
3BF and lill sun clouded sky, unfortunatly nobody could film.

Did a few loops, flips, rolls, Thats all,
I didnt dare to try the Tic-Tocs because i think the ESC wasnt up for the job,
So you can see in the datalogger jpg the esc quit on me twice,
those deep drops, so thats the reason I didnt want to test some Tic-Tocs.

ESC was very hot after flight, forgot my infrared tempmeter but i think somewhere around 60 to 70 Celcius
Scorpion motor was good even though i was running it on 80-65-60-65-80, I gues sowhere around 45 Celcius

1888mAh back into them A123's (8s1p)

When I receive my ordered stuff, Ill putt on a 19T pinion and then run 100 tc flat,
And then Ill make a new datalogger file and show it here.

Heres the chart:

How long is your flight time with 8sA123?? with the current motor?

concept1
04-04-2008, 01:40 PM
also what other motors have you run? any comparisons? the esc is most likely hot and cutting out because your curve is so low, raise it and you should be fine, try to keep your mid (lowest ) point above 75%, I am runing the stock gaui 50 amp on 8s A123 with my curve of 100 95 85 95 100 and the esc isn't even warm.
but please give us some real comparisons on flights, time, performance etc.. and how does it compare to any other motor you ran?

thanks

The flight time I cant tell yet, cause last time cause of the 2 "glitches" ive landed sooner,
and Cant test right now cause the weather really sucks, lot of rain an gushy wind up to 7bf

My only motor comparison is the stock 890Kv Gaui one,
Allready changed the pinion to a 19T so I should be better running a higher throttle curve now,
as soon as the weather clears again ill throw in some test flights.

I never had a single outage on the Stock 50A gaui controller with 8sA123. 4-5 hard tic-tocs no problem. When I changed to CC 85 I had it go off on me and had to lower the cutoff voltage. Is it possible your stock ESC not programmed?

With the stock ESC I would keep it at either 85 flat, 90 or 100 flat on idle ups and the ESC wont have to work as hard. It keeps the amp spikes and voltage drops from happening.

I just picked up a 3026-1000Kv at the Toledo show. But I am headed out of twon and won't be able to try it for a few weeks.
