Folks,
I'm interested in starting AP with my heli's - most likely on my Hurricane 550e..
I would like to start with a stabilizer and the AP-2000i seems the way to go, however, I can't seem to find
anywhere to buy one from - can I please ask the following questions;
* Anywhere to buy one in OZ ? or via paypal overseas with non-rediculous shipping prices
* What else do I need to get with the AP-2000i to get it up and running
* What sort of cost am I up for
I have a DX7 Setup... any help appreciated..
Hello,
have you started your Hurricane 550 AP project already? Would be interesting to hear about your experience.
Maybe there are other people with their AP setups based on a Gaui Hurricane 550 ? I found one interesting thread - here is the link: http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t382254p1

Jock, you can buy the AP2000i and IR sensor with cable from either Spartan UK or from Mrk Webber (US distributor). I didn't think the postage cost was too extreme.

Thanks guys..
An update - I got an AP-2000i of Mark Webber and I orininally put it on my hurricane for a while.. but as i fly the little 450 mostly on my days off, the hurry didn't get too much testing done with it...
Recently I took the hurry to my club and decided to give the AP-2000i a work out and it performed well..
I showed the guys at my club... had my DX7 placed on the ground whilst the hurry slowly drifted in the sky by itself - lol
I then took the hurry up as high as I've ever flown and heli - it was only about 1cm in size all the way up there.. he he he but it hovered no probs...
I recently decided to try the t-rex450se out for AP..
I purchased an Askman AP mount from Helihobby and just the other day rebuilt my 450 with it and the spartan AP-2000i...
What can I say - the heli is just about "Uncrashable"... i kid you not!
I did everything possible to loose orientation - and succeeded easily - only to have the heli drift in the sky in a horizontal recovery from basically anything I did. The only way it was going to crash was to kill throttle, kamakaze it into the ground or to hit something! Otherwise, it just hung in the sky while I contorted it in all sorts of directions...
So needles to say - I'm very happy with the outcome... but it was a legistical nightmare organising where to fit everything on a little 450... when I tidy the wires up a bit, i'll post some pics of how I placed everything and how it turned out...

Oh dude that rocks I would love to see some video of you trying to crash it or setting the radio down for a seond to tie your shoe that would be funny
I can't wait to see the photos both of the heli and from the heli.

JS - I would like to know what gain setting on the AP2000i and the gain on the tail gyro you ended up using the most. THanks.

@charosenz
I have not substitued the channels yet - simply have the gyro in ch5 still at 80%
On the ap-2000i I use the 2 switch mix setup elsewhere on this site I think - this gives me 35% low gain
and 60% high..
I'm just stating - so these gains seem ok atm for AP - but when I fly the 450 without the AP gear, I'd like about 20% on the low bit the switch setup won't allow it - it looks like..
I have another thread with pic of my finished AP bird :)
