EDIT:
I see the error of my ways. I have no clue why I thought it would be a good idea to do both sides at the same time. I should also be using Deans Connectors for the Battery to ESC. I read the Bullet Connector Video only. I found the other video and now feel like a moron.
************************************************** *****************************

Im not to great with the old soldering iron, but after soldering the Bullet Connectors to my ESC, I moved onto my battery.

Battery is Mega Power 3s 2200

While I was soldering all of the sudden some sparks shot of the tips and scared the **** out of me.

Im not sure what happened. Could I have made contact between the positive and negative. The sparks came only from the bullet connectors and not from the battery itself.

It is not puffed or shows any signs of being damaged.

I havent soldered anything in like 10 years much less a lipo battery.

I have another question, I purchased a Thunder Power 610c Charger.

What power supply should I use with this. The only input is alligator clips. Manual says 11-16V 10A Maxium Charger rate.

So would something like this work?

Is there something cheaper than this?

Charging an 11.1VDC LiPo, you will only be charging at 1C or 2C, so that power supply should work fine.

I am a little confused by the label that indicates 6-8 Amp. Are they saying that they don't know the maximum current that their power supply can provide?? Unless that means 6A normal with a short peak of 8 amps. Either way, it is fine with that 11.1V LiPo......

was the spark between the two battery wires? if so, it's cooked even though it didn't puff. any short will kill a lipo. if you're talking about the sparks from plugging the battery to the esc, that's normal.

Yes, the spark was between the battery wires. (Im almost sure of it now)

I was worried about that. Its a shame as its new. Ive never even charged it. Just the small amount of charge that it comes with.

I have one other pack, and I will probably order a few more.

What are some batteries that people recommend that wont break the bank. My heli is an HDX 450.

Hi, I have read somewere that the aligator clips are used on a 12 volt utility battery, or automotive battery. The charger is used as a voltage regulator to recharge the lipos.

I would not agree with the assertion that sparking it means the battery is toast. I know some people who did similar silly things, and the battery was ok. It may not last as long, and time will tell, but I for one would not discard that battery.......

$50 is a pretty decent price........

Okay, well I haven't discarded the battery yet. I ordered some deans connectors as well. When they get here I will attempt to set up the charger and see if the battery is good or not.

Is it dangerous to attempt to charge it? Or if I ruined it will it just not hold a charge very well? Maybe a closed metal pot should be used.

I went ahead and ordered the power supply from helidirect. Should be here sometime this week.

Try these batteries. You can get two of them for the price of one of the regular ones. I have a buddy that uses them and swears by them. I have 4 on order as we speak.
