I for one will do my own electric conversion because I want to fly at my electric only field. Now I got to search for the right motor.

Hi Kevin

Do you have any idea what motor and - not to forget - batteries will be required for a E-bird this size?

I haven't run Nitro in years, and would REALLY love to see the 700 as an electric! BUT, this thing may cause me to go NITRO again!!!

Ugh! Noise, smoke, and an oily mess. Remind me guys, is it worth it? Dumb humans always forget, then duplicate the past! :)

Keep us posted Kevin. There will be alot of people interested even if Align don't think manufacturing an electric version viable.

2mm frames a bit thin though, no?

I predict there will be an electric version out in a year or 2 after the release.

I want more info on the flybarless system! :Bang

But I'd rather buy something from JR, Futaba.

To answer a few questions:

There are NO plans to make a 700E.

The pictures you have seen are prototypes, but all materials used will reamain roughly the same. SO if it's aluminum...it will remain aluminum.

The MAP price for the US will be $799. This will include the kit, tail blades and paddles.

Jason, Alan, and Bert will be leaving in just a few days to begin the final testing, and will be bringing one home just in time for Huntsville. So, we can expect to see them hit the market in about two months.

I can't wait to see some big birds in the air...it's been too long.

Mininum it will have to be a 10s or 12s setup and about a 5000 capacity (2 trex600 pack maybe). The two motors I have in mine are Actro or Neu.

How much extra weight do you think this will be compared to glow engine and fuel?

Wow. 2 months from market. I always laughed when people said it will be out before the Aurora. No I'm thinking it just may..

About 6 months between 500 and 700N, that's pretty crazy.

I can't wait to see what kind of nutty franken copter comes out of the lab next Kevin. Like you said I think it would have to be bare minimum 10S which would probably be bare minimum based on the weights Align helis seem to come out on based on materials used. Betting the thing wouldn't really come alive until 12S-16S.

i like it but really not all that impressed, i can't really see anything innovative on the heli to justify me spending the money to buy one. I think i'll wait till that flybarless setup show's up then get it. :D

Man, I am still finishing up on my Trex 500 and now the Trex 700!:shock: Jason is a hard worker and I can't wait to see some demo flying. Now, time to break the piggy bank for a 700n.

Thanks,
Ken

I don't know how much the engine/mount/fan/clutch/tank and fuel weigh but a 12s 5000 and motor will weight around 1900 - 2000g (4 - 4.5 lb) So if the airframe/servos/electronics/blades weighs around 5 lb. it should be good.

The Scorpion 4035 that will come out by the end of April may also be a good candidate for motor.

Is Assurance going to have enough of these Heli's in stock to supply the demand once they go on sale? It'd be nice if we who are interested aren't fighting trying to find Heli's and parts as we were with the 500.

My advise - Get ENOUGH Heli's and parts in stock before shipping 1zzy, 2zzy's to dealers. I think a lot more people will be happier with Align and Assurance :)

:clappp:badair::thumbdown:

But i dont believe so. After release of 700N, what will they do to keep up the interest for new releases ? I bet they will release an E version a while after the N, and if they do so by using 12S (2x typical 600 packs) the market would be much bigger than the N version alone.:thumbup:

Ha... there is no way to win that one... Some are going to WANT IT NOW rather than wait for a pipeline to fill up which could take months... You can't please all the people...

Personally I will want it the minute I can get one myself!

I'm in no hurry for one myself as I'm thinking my next one will be a Bergen Gasser. I'm mostly looking forward to watching the build videos on it. Hint Hint!!!:banana

Do you guy think Align will release their version on Carbsmart?

:thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

It's ok, someone will buy the nitro one you don't want.

The cost of re-design to adapt the heli to electric power and the huge expense of batteries will make the e-version sell in small numbers.

Don't give Align a thumbs down for making a smart business decision.
