I put the JR8717 and the 611 in mine. I purchased new, I don't like buying someone elses problems

I purchased a used Rappy 60 wit a YS 80 and Futaba 9002 servos, 401 gyro and 9254 tail servo.
So far, I've replaced:
All three head servos as the elevator servo got glitchey.
Old clutch was engaging late and slipping
New sleeve and piston on YS80 as chunk of piston missing (TIP, remove muffler and look at piston prior to purchase of used motor)
Selected Gear ratio was less than ideal, so new gears (not like it cost much)Latest crash was a result of poor pilot skills when something let go in the tail. I think it was the control rod, but it might possibly have been the tail servo, or maybe the gyro. I'm thinking I should replace both as a form of insurance. If I do, the only thing left from my $800 purchase is going to be a used air frame and canopy....
Needless to say, I'm not so eager to purchased used anymore. However, if you can find the guy that decided "I want to fly RC and I'll start with a Nitro Heli" and quits after crashing it once, maybe that would be a good deal! I've seen a few of those helis brought to the field, purchased for ridiculously cheap prices!

I agree completely!
(on both the servo/gyro choices and the not buying used).

That's the deal with the R30 I'm flying now. A friend fought it off eBay for cheap and gave it to me to fix and fly for a while. I'm pretty sure the thing never flew...just crashed once. Ever single link in the thing was uber tight. I replaced a few common items, double-checked everything else. Got a dozen flights on it now...and it flies beautifully.
I personally never have good luck buying used.

I have BLS451 in mine, and the G770T with 8900. If I have to buy again though I'd put a SolidG in it, I love the way you can set it up.

I bought a Rap 90 3D and am using JR8717 servos and the Logitech 6100T gyro with the 6100G servo it comes with.

New or Used,
A person can never go wrong buying new other than price of the object in question. the parts are new, and warranty from the manufacturer is usually good. If its a kit, then the pilot/owner knows how to build, setup and repair his heli. Just comes down to price.
Used will be a hit or miss prospect.
I bought my R90 (was a R60/70) off of ebay for a good price. It came a few extra parts, maverick carbon blades and was already a long boom setup. it had some metal bling on it, carbon fins etc. I have had no problem with what i bought outside of normal wear and tear (2 years worth now). My R90 is the workhorse between it and my Minair 99SE( I also bought it used RTF, but i knew the owner and still fly with him). I have a GY601 with YS91ST, JR8311 servos. anything with a min 90 oz torque is the accepted rule for a 90.
Some will get a bigger headache than others concerning the product they bought. with a heli, you can replace/upgrade parts to fix it vs having to send in electronics in for service or just deal with the item as is (airplane purchase).
It basically comes down to how much information you have about the heli (or other item) in question and money to spend initially. the choice only you can make for your situation. FWIW...
