I just installed a new liner and it fits tight over the clutch. I'm just wondering if there is a break in period or something is wrong?

you should be able to spin it freely. install everything and motor the engine over with the starter, see if that frees it up any.

you may want to redo the liner, make sure to use a small amount of epoxy when you glue the liner in.

did you replace the clutch? It may be sprung causing it to feel tight. The slots should look the same distance from the outer edge of the clutch to where the round hole is on each side. If you see the outer edge is wider then the other end of the slot, replace the clutch. I hope this makes sence, hard to explain.

Thanks for the help everyone. It the clutch there is about half a mill dif in the gap i pinched it back together just to see if it would fit and it does so i'll have to replace.

This maybe a dumb question but now that i have the gap even and there seem to be some spring still in it can i still use it the closest hobby shop is 2.5 hours away.

Id replace it. you can order one on-line, shiping would be cheaper than the gas for 2.5 hours driving time.

Most of the time they are sprung and will just bend out and drag on the liner and try to turn the blades when its idling.
