The antenna in my AR6200 is starting to deteriorate (see picture) so I would like to replace it.

1. How do I open the AR6200 case?

2. Does it matter what wire I replace it with?

3. Do I need to replace the wires on both sides to have them matched?

4. Is it sufficient to measure the length of the existing wire and replacing it with a wire of the same length (as accurate I can measure it).

5. Anything else I should know?

Thanks,

Kam

1) I have no idea

2) Not really, but it should be multistranded.

3) No.

4) Yes.

Best would be to send it to Horizon. All AR6200s should still be under warranty. And they can upgrade it to the latest firmware at the same time.

Thanks Pinecode. Good idea. I will send it to them.

I do this to prevent this from happening. After really messing up an AR7000, I use a very small fuel tube just pushed over the plastic part. I hope it doesn't mess with the signal

I did like some other have done before me; take some shrink tube and shrink it around the base of the antenna over the plastic part. Then it will secure the antenna and make it stronger. Just a short shrink tube, not covering the whole antenna.

I have also seen some people using "melt glue" or what you call it.
