was flying my nitro today, after it has been sitting for about 3 months, before flying it, i cleaned the entire thing, so it like brand new now, i have the os 50 hyper in it, running the GV1 on it, im about 1.25 out on the needle valve

anyways, i started to fly it with no problems, after about 6 min of flying, i go into idle up, which is 1900rpm, when i hear this back firing noise, and my heli is jerking, so i hit hold and auto it down,

after that i set all my pitch curves to 50% 0 degrees, and i start her up, when i get to about center stick, witch is 100% the back fire noise happens and the heli jerks, kind like bouncing and inch of the ground,

anyone have this happen to them before?

thanks

I find that fuel will get thick after sitting a few months so just open up the main needle a 1/4 turn untill it goes rich then set it back again.

while i did not have a jerk on mine, i did get a sound and some vibrations when my rear bearing went out. the os hyper apparently is know for chewing through bearings.

Usually a failed rear bearing is due to rust. I have not had a bearing fail on any OS I have had unless it got the opportunity to get rust. And YES they due manage to rust pretty easily even if you use after run oil, run the engine dry, etc...

If you replace your bearing I recommend getting a stainless steel bearing.

Great information thanks guys. I will look into stainless steel bearing replacements. I definitely want to play with my first expired engine as I used to work in a weed eater, lawn mower small engines shop long, long ago.

Yea I had the same thing but it happened to me when I was inverted 3 foot off the deck luckely it didnt quit...... Just richen it up fly some circutes, stall turns and punch outs anything that will work then engine a bit then start to lean it out works every time.... Im pretty sure it's fuel that has thick in the carb and just needs flushing out.....

Hope this helps

also, you can pull the carb apart and get some acetone to clean out the small holes. the fuel will gum up in the carb if it sits too long.
