so Bob what's the verdict on the hurricane 550? i'm looking to find my next heli, and would like something bigger than my 450. i already have a 30 size shuttle, but am looking to get a bigger, cheaper to power, but hopefully as long as i can get flight time. does the hurricane 550 fill the bill? the second flight of yours sounded like you really seem to like it with a few tweaks.

if you do like it how does it compare to the aligns? battery cost is a big consideration for me. it needs to be cheap to get in the air. seeing as it uses trex packs it's at the top of my list. hell it's the only one on my list.maybe i'll end up with a 50 size nitro bird.

with the right blades, esc, and batteries do you think it mite make a nice scale bird? is 4 min about the max flight time? i have yet to hover my trex, so i wonder the flight time of it vs the hurricane.

thanks for the input.

Jerry

Check out post #80. Keep in mind if Bob did get the upgrades I'm betting he would change his views. Until then that's his honest opinion. The whole thread is great, and convinced me to get the Hurc. until I read Bob's posts and PM'd him. I'm holding back currently. My choices are Hurricane 550, T-Rex 500, and Logo 500 3D. The Hurricane is almost half of what the Logo costs! I think it is perfect for beginners and sport fliers. I just don't understand why the parts didn't get sent to Bob. Anyways read the thread.

Just search for the IRCHA videos and you'll end up with a hurricane 550, unless you want to go nitro. The little kid, Justin Chi sold me on it. He's freaking 5 years old and does some really awsome stuff. He should be sponsored by GAUI.

already have a 30 size nitro hirobo shuttle plus. i think i'm going the scale route.

i do like the hurricane 550 though. in another thread someone said they have a friend that flies a trex 500 on 2 trex 450 batteries. waiting on a responce on flight time, and how well it flies.

perhaps if we all throw in a buck or two we could get a new frame and stuff for finless and we could get him loving the Hurricane again. Just a thought.I believe that Gaui as the developer and readyheli as the distributor should have already done this. They must be tied up in the development of the new models to worry about this. But if they don't have Finless on their side ( he does have some influence on what us Freaks purchase) they are making a mistake.

Finless doesn't get paid or accept compensation for his reviews, build vids etc.. What you get is his unbiased opinion. Yeah, a lot of people think his word is "gospel", but personally, while I have a lot of respect for Bob and what he's said and done, I take it all with a grain of salt and seek other opinions and experiences before I dive in.

well i respect his input. ALOT! i just wish the videos that show radio setup showed both fm, and spectrum menus. would make life easer for me, and other no0bs. he does have both i belive, but i'm happy to have access to his time, and laybor.

thanks Bob/Finless

I can tell you this about Bob...he won't tell you one is better than the other one(see his signature). From his post's about the Hurricane, I got the imrpession he wasn't that satisfied with it. It has gone through a lot of evolution as far as I have seen and is looking good to me. However, (and this is of course going to seem biased and somewhat fanboy'ish when you read my signature) you can't go wrong with a TRex 500. It just does everything well, out of the box, upgrades or not.

I have never flown a Hurricane so I cannot make a good comparison for you. In my 500, I'm using 2x 3S 2500mAh and getting 5 minutes of hard aerobatic/medium 3D out of that. I also timed it once at just under 8 minutes w/ a 12T flying "sporty" circuits as one would with scale flight.

I guess I am an Align fanboy :wow2: , I dunno...but I love my 500.

If i would've seen the build videos first, I would've saved alot of money. "Ready to fly" yeah right. when I get mine I'm gonna go through all of Finless's videos and record my progress as well because I think it would be interesting to some people to see a newbee try and do what Bob does.

Gotta Fly,

i'd like a trex 500, but till now i haven't herd the run time of one, or that you could fly it with 2 batteries. it's just made it back on the list for my next heli.

as i understand the trex nitro bird is better than a raptor. my lhs has always claimed that the raptor was the bomb for nitro birds. now it seems that the trex nitro bird is the king of the hill.

i really do think scale is in my future. maybe a camera ship.

The stuff Bob shows in the CCPM1 and CCPM2 vids is basic stuff for a good heli setup. Translating between radios isn't too difficult, but may require you to poke around in the menus on your particular radio to find what you're looking for..

2 years ago, I was scratching myhead over most of this stuff. Now, I pick up a Tx I've never messed with before and can get a basic setup programmed pretty quickly because I know the basics and understand what it is they do.
