Ok Guys I am in a serious bind here, I have an event coming up in a month and need to buy a bigger heli, I keep switching back and forth but just can't decide. I'll be going towards the Trex but then lean over to the Gaui. Is there anyone that has tried both and can give honest opinions!

P.S.
I am doing moderate 3D

If you look at what forum you have posted your question, I think your will get some pretty biased answers. :nanabobo

i like my 550 better but i have z30 motor and it gives very short flight timer even on 3300mha batteries , looking back on what i had to pay to get the 550 to the performance i have now i do think the t-rex 500 is a much better deal, it flies very nice straight out the box .

First off I don't own either one. However all I do is research as I have been preparing to take the large heli plunge for some time. Go for the T-Rex 500. The Gaui is great, but parts are not at the LHS, it does not fly as well "out of the box" as was stated earlier, it will have a much larger support network, and it's design and materials are of better quality.

Also look into the Logo 500 3D. I'm split between the T-Rex 500 and the Logo.

I own both. Do NOT bother with the hurricane. The TREX spanks it hands down.

I also own both. I do not like to say this but go with the T-REX 500. It will fly well out of the box as opposed to the Hurri where you will have to upgrade the motor and fine tune little things here and there. The Hurri is not a bad heli, but it is not as well supported as T-REX. However, I like my Hurricane!

Oh please, no more whining! Do a couple of easy grounding mods and you'll be fine.

Now, to answer your question. Even though I was unlucky enough to get a few small "brownouts" , I would still go with a Trex. 5 minutes and 2 wires later I didn't have a "brownout" problem to worry about. These issues are real, but don't let them scare you, the fix is really easy.

what I do know is you should check out the IRCHA videos, that helped me. Just do a yahoo or google search for IRCHA. when you see Justin chi ( who's 5) flying a Hurricane 550 like a mad man. Kinda makes ya think.

these are 2 different birds. get both, fly the Trex 500 when you want something small, fly the Hurri when you want a larger heli!.
I currently have the Hurricane and have spent the last 3 months looking at the 500, I had my hurri for sale once and decided to do some upgrades instead, Very glad I did, with the upgraded Hurri you end up with something closer to the Trex 600 but still "cheap" you can get the Hurricane just the way you want it you can get it priced nicely. but it will be build your own!!!! i recomend the "cheap" basic kit with about $100 in upgrade cnc and the Rotorworks frame, then go for the Z30 motor for around $600+- you have a killer heli!
I can't put down the 500 though, only down side is it is smaller, but thats about it. I will most likley get one this spring, It will be replacing my 450 though! if you want to run A123 cells then the Hurri has a advantage their it does very well on 8s A123!!!
