Helidirect got a lot of new parts for the GAUI Hurricane and their new HDX550 Heli. I like that!

BUT: IMO, the new Aluminium tail rotor set is NOT strong enough with the small axis from the tail rotor hub.
Please, see the picture.
It is really annoying to buy upgrades, and then to crash BECAUSE of those upgrades. It happens once, so there is a need to improve that part, IMO

I bought that upgrade as well, and will changing it asap.

What exactly does that mean?
Are they replacing all the tail hubs out there with a new one or do we all have to shell out more cash to be another companies beta tester. Mark

The manufacture updated with us that they are working on new hub,

all pp who have 550 cnc taill system ,can have 1. new rotor hub 1. bearing thrust 1. ball bearing to replace

please check out pictures.

This is great How do we go about getting the replacements.
I have one sitting on the shelve now waiting for the new parts.
Do we e-mail you with a invoice number of the original or will you send out new ones as per your records. please advise us thanks.

Odieser, Please keep a look out on the website for them to be availlable...and then use the "contact us" link on our homepage and submit a help desk ticket...if you have the Order (Invoice) # that you purchased the the hub/ tail system on please let us know...or we can look up the order via your email address.

This free replacement is for the HDX upgrade part only...not a Gaui made product.

I already told manufacture about this issue and they already addressed it.

Mine was one of the first to fail on the H550.My supplier refunded my money and I used that to buy the Raptor tail rotor. Looking at your "redesign", I'll stick with the Raptor tail thanks.

Just got an email back from Jeff and he said the factory had to make a special bearing for it. It will be listed on his web site as soon as it's available. I'm sure HeliDirect will have it around the same time.

Steve or anyone at helidirect any new news guys? as i'm not flying my second H550 till the tailrotor is swapped out for the new version as i don't want to risk damaging anyone or anything with an out of control heli :shock:

Does anybody know if this tail rotor http://www.readyheli.com/204650_CNC_Tail_Rotor_Grips_with_Thrust_Bearings_G _p/204650.htm will work with the HeliDirect CNC tail? I know the shaft size is not an issue I just wonder it the dog-bone looking thingies will line up correctly. Anyone?

Ok, here's the deal, the replacement hub is just that, a replacement hub. They have increased the diameter of the bearing support post and changed the bearings to accommodate the larger post. The old hub was 3mm and the new hub is 4mm. Now looking at the original hub, the post are way too small but the new one looks up to the task. Problem is, the hub I received only had two bearings and I need four. Also no screws included and the existing ones are too small. :mad:

steve or anyone ay helidirect will you please inform us on the status of this problem, i have had one of my hurricanes grounded because of this problem for months now!

if a solution is not forthcoming would it be possible to return the CNC Heli tail rotor for an exchange to the gaui cnc version? (i will of course pay the $14 difference)

HiPhil,
CncHeli has both the upgraded larger hub standard bearing one and thrust bearing model available. I have both but I'm using the standard bearing one as the thrust bearing model has a little too much play for my taste. Avoid the Gaui one as some have been disappointed with the quality, mostly in the machining tolerances.

thanks for the info but i've had the gaui cnc tail on my CFS hurri since it first came out and it's perfect :glasses2:, just as good as my quick uk one on my rappy e620!

the silence from helidirect is deafening! jeez i only want a product that works as it should, i mean that's what i paid for! and if you can't get the product to work properly let me exchange it for one that does!

come on steve et all!!!! even CNC Helicopter is shipping the new hub for the hurricane550 tail set and as they make the parts i think it's safe to assume they think it's needed!

when will i be getting my new hub? or when will i be able to return the tail assembly for exchange?
