I wanted to see what everyone thinks of the Logo 500 3D. It would be great if Bob could post a review here. I listed some review points to use, any other points recommended?

OK here is mine with comments
Parts Quality 8
Quality was good but some parts needed some work (sainding or filing) for final fit as you saw in my videos.
Durability NA
I cant say as I havent crashed It certainly is better than the L14 was as far as frame strength!
Performance 8
I say 8 for this review as I would like more power and alittle more head speed. The motor is a good all around motor but I want more! Cyclic response is very good. The heli tracks really well. Rolls are spot on with almost no need to compensate with elevator to keep them axial. If I had more power I would give it a 10.
Value NA
I can say anything about value since I got the kit given to me. In fact I do not even know what the going price is for a 5003D kit. Also Value is in the eye of the beholder so you will have to judge that.
Hovering Stability 10
FFF 10
Responsiveness 9
Auto rotations 10
3D Capability 8
Again power is the issue for me right now BUT even with the current motor it can do anything. With more power this would probably be a 10
Suitable for: beginner/intermediate/advanced YES
Any advanced heli in my opinion is sutable for a biginner! Why? Becasue you can always tame a heli down for a begginer by using the radio programming (lowering swash mix, adding expo, etc. I always reccomend a beginner buy the best they can afford as it will help them learn faster, give less frustration, and they can grow with the heli rather than buying something new later.
There you have it! Over all this is a great heli! Mine is a keeper for sure and will always be part of my fleet.

Bob, you keep saying more power?! Put some 550mm blades on it then you will have power!

I am going to try a set of 550's but the motor already comes down kinda hot. Hard to believe I will feel more power but hey... I will giv it a try!
Bob
thats what i thought, but its well worth it. I used to have a 15T pinion governed to 75% on the Jazz 80, it was awesome fun! this is the sort of power i was getting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efuRikOMHgQ thats running my perfered blades which are the SAB550

Hmmm your head speed seems a lot higher than mine..... You using the same motor? I am using 16T pinion.
Bob
Hacker A40-8L-8Pole, 15T, 85% governed (not 75 sorry), i think its about 2350rpm, such a perfect setup for it. give it a go bob, you will love it!

Yea I got the A40 10L. Shawn suggested the 8 but Aeromodel wanted me to use the 10.
I am going to stick with it for a while and will try the 550's with this setup. I still think I want more head speed though ;)

OK I tried the 550mm blades
HOLY COW! It woke this heli up! I could not believe the difference it made. Not only power but cyclic was like doubled in speed... I was totally impressed and did not expect that.
However while the motor stayed cool the Jazz got very hot and in fact melted the glue holding the velcro on to it. Do I need to drop to a 15T pinion? Or do I need to do the heat sink mod others have done to the jazz?

The opposite side of the jazz label of course is the heat plate, I certainly would opt to mounting a heatsink on that side Bob, something simple with just some thermal epoxy to afix it. I did not get to try the 10L in the heat of our summer here so I can't say whether it was getting hot at all on 16 tooth but if you say it is, well then it is...if you want to keep your current setup than I surely would add a heatsink, living where you are it is likley a good idea anyways. :) I am running a A40-8- on 13 tooth mod.7 on my 5003D flybared unit at 85% on the 80-6-18 and the esc barely gets warm, this of course is only at 40 degrees F though, lol. Should be fine in summer, last fall the esc was barely warm at 80-90 Deg F. All my Jazz ESCs' have a small heatsink, just to be on the safe side of life.

OK I will have to do that. I didnt know that side was the heat plate and that is the side I stuck the velcro to. Thus it got hot enough to make the glue on the velcro melt.
I assume adding a heat sink is going to void the warrenty but so be it. I like the power and the gov ROCKS with this 16T pinion and 550mm blades. Man it's like a completely different heli than with the 500mm blades...
Bob
glad you like it, it makes a pretty awesome helicopter about the best heli in the world!!!
I used to run the Jazz 80 with the heatsink up with no problems. taking away the heatshrink and putting another heatsink one doesn't void warranty, i had to send mine back for resetting and they had no issues with it. they are a very good company like that

Just flew my new 500 on 14T .7 mod pinion with the 40/10L 8P motor and SAB rotors. Not as expected wanting more pop, i am waiting on the 15T pinion which should bring the headspeed up to 2150RPM.
I find it wierd that when on its skids the heli rotors and boom are angled forward whereas other helis sit flat on the skids. I feel like i will have a tip over when landing or it could pose a problem while flying as the skids can be used as reference.
The E620SE on 10S still amazes me, so much power
