I am unsure about my 8900 servo. It feels unusual and I dont know if its normal, I never checked it before I installed it Saturday.

If I move the rudder fast left and right and try to hold or feel the servo wheel its smooth, and I cant stop it.

However:
If I move the rudder stick slowly left and right the servo feels like its stepping like an electrical or magnetic bumping. Like a stepper motor. It moves as it should, the gears feel fine.

So if you have an 8900 can you let me know if its normal to feel the "stepping" when making a slow left right movement?

Thanks

it's normal. The gyro is sending steps trying to get a feedback, but the heli is stationary so it's not getting one. (heli NOT rotating on axis)
Quit worrying and fly it. :)

I noticed the same thing and was told by my LHS's owner that it's normal. However, I noticed the same behavior when I bypassed the gyro and plugged the servo directly into the rudder channel, so I don't think it's the gyro causing it.

BTW, after noticing the behavior, I hovered 4 tanks in a strong crosswind and the tail held beautifully.

1+ for it being normal.

You will get the behavior you described in Heading hold mode, switch over to rate mode and notice the problem will go away.
