Guys,

My new Hurricane 550 is on it's way from Fung - I went for one of the combos but changed the Maxwell servos for the Spektrums and upgraded the motor to a Z20A 980Kv. I already have a 550 and I am just about to start transitioning from lazy 8's to circuits (I'm pretty solid on all orientations, but have the occasional panic) - I have bought the "spare" 550 to build up as I am expecting to be crashing unfortunately (everytime I move from one stage to the next I always crash more :( ) - I find my 550 so easy to fly that it was an easy choice as a spare "trainer".

My question - what should I be gearing my Z20A to - 13 tooth or 14 tooth ?. My current 550 on the Gaui 850Kv has 14 T and a 0, 80, 85, 85, 95 TC, I have plastic main blade grips and I think that if I use a 14 tooth pinion on the Z20A this will put me over 2,000 rpm if I use a similar TC (I don't really want to go too much lower).

Advice welcomed.

Thanks,
Mike.

i'd get both the 14 and 15t pinions, to see what fits you best. on mine with stock gearing and 14t pinion i got 2190rpm on 6 cell lipo, 95% flat curve. with 8 cell a123 same gearing i got 2250rpm 95% flat throttle.
