Put heli on the bench to check over for spring, set all gear mesh, checked all links and balls, removed exhaust and carb to check piston condition, removed tail boom inspected drive shaft. every thing was looking ok.Then found gyro proplem, when start up light would flash rapid, then just keep flashing, servo seemed like it was in normal mode but when working the servo it looked like there might be some hard over spikes going on.I use my gear swicth to go from norm to avcs no response, checked all wires, checked sensitivity switching connector, change sevor and all wires.Replaced 401 unit bingo initialized.Idon't know a hole lot about these units but I would say my unit was on the way out.REMEBER TO CHECK THE LED BEFORE GOING FLYING.
Im open for any other input.

Yep. Sfter turning the heli tx on, I always watch the gyro light to see that it's initialize correctly before I touch/move the heli again.

Kelly:
Are you sure you were turning on the power with the TX set to heading hold for the 401 gyro? If you turn it on and its not in heading hold mode it will not initialize properly and do what you describe with the flashy light thing. Turn it on in heading hold mode and it gives a solid red LED that its ready. Then switch to normal mode and the light will go out if you don't touch the rudder stick.
I'd try it again to be sure before to label it as bad.

Since it worked correctly with the replacement gyro, kinda leads me to think he knows how to do it properly, ensuring that the gyro switch is in HH mode before turning on the helicopter.
Could be wrong though! :)

raja- beleive me I must off fliped that mode switch 50 times, even tried changing the gians in HH and norm mode,When it would try to boot up all I got was a little click from the servo. After speding two hrs then installing new unit and 30 sec later every things working fine,I have no proplem using the wire on the 401 for aleron extension for my 150 four stroke p47.
