I just thought I would bring this to the front. I was browsing the Avant forum and found the programmable head they build which is awesome. but in the manual on page 14 they are showing the upper mixing arms being setup and they are the same as the Gaui head with the arm and the link to the swash being at a 90 degree to each other as they descibe the pitch from positive to negative will not be the same. If something of this quality is setup like this I think I will leave my Gaui head the way it was designed.
Here is the manual look on page 14

Just my 2 cents.

Yes, Gaui designed it correctly. This went round-and-round in a thread a while back and someone even posted a page from a Gaui manual, not the Hurricane, that showed the same set up as page 14 on your links manual.
P.S. That looks like a sweet head. :)

for some reason i can't open pdf files right now. what you all are saying is that the pitch link needs to be perfect 90 to the arm, right?

yes.. link 90 to the arm...not the mixer arm 90 to the blade grips like in the Finless video..no need for the adjustable short link :D

why would that happen???

it wouldn't.... at least I hope it wouldn't just because I or someone else said that Bob had it wrong in his video. I have a lot of respect for Bob, and he was setting up the head in his video based on how it has been done in the past on similar heads. I don't think that the way Bob set it up would make that much difference anyways, and he even said as much in his video.. it's just the way HE set it up.
for me... when I get my H550, I'll set it up the Gaui way.....

I 100% agree and I was only pointing the fact that gaui had a design in mind.

Great! I was getting ready to get the shorter linkages in mine, but I don't have to worry 'bout that anymore! Thanks for posting this Mark!

I redid my head setup a few days ago and I changed back from what was recommended in the video to the Gaui links. I can see no difference in my knobb flying and it takes out another adjustment. That has to be a good thing.

Odie...that manual is one of the BEST i have ever seen discribing possible head adjustments...
That manual is "definately" a keeper in my Documents file...it has a great graph that takes you from Ultra Stable to Ultra Active....using all the different holes available on the bell-hiller levers and blade grip arms.
it's worth a look through it...
Thanks for the post...

Yes it wouldbe nice to have the full ajustments as the avant head has but it does give a good idea where to tune our Gaui head with the alignments we have to choose frm.

off topic, but how do you know when you get warning points? pm? i'm asking because i made a thread in the general heli forum about where to get a trex 450 sev2 kit w/o motor, esc ect, and i also typed why i was making the switch, and that i had a huge amount of stock parts from my mx450 (which is what i'm dumping for the trex). i believe the mods or admin or whoever thought i was asking to buy a used sev2 kit and trying to sell my mx. so the thread got moved to the for sale section. i posted up another thread, asking the same questions but worded differently, and griping about how my thread got moved for no reason and that if it got moved to the for sale section, it was obvious that whoever moved it didn't read the whole thing to begin with. i was pissed, but i'm over it as i probly got more angry then i should have, but i figured i'd be getting slapped with a warning at least for airing my grief.

This setup makes sense, but I really find it difficult to be sure I have the relevant arms at 90 degrees to one another. Anyone have any pointers here? A degree or two out would have a exponetial effect on pitch.
