Hi guys im new here been lurking for a few weeks. Ever since i was a kid i wanted to get into RC helicopters (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=4725). So a couple weeks ago i went out and got myself a BCPP from my LHS. Been going through RADD's training (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=5336) (2 hrs every day for 2 weeks) and have reached to the point where im soposed to slide the heli in the T patern. But i have one problem. Moving forward and left is perfect but when i try to move right the heli leans over and the blades hit the ground..Is this tip over normal? Also it takes more cyclic to move to the right than the left. I have checked that my swash plate is level and it is..any help would be greatly apriciated. Thanks
I dumped mine a lot over and over when I started. There is a timing you need to get at, its liek riding a bike. one you get it it will be there.
Throttle up slowly as you movee the cyclic to the right slowly, More throttle but slower cyclic and it will lift off and put the stick back to center or correct to left as needed.
now I just keep my right stick over to right a little and throttle it up until lift off and heli will just take off straight. If you do it too much it will dump the heli, only a tiny bit not even 1/4 of right cyclic.
That's all pretty much I can do right now, I can hover it at about 30' in the air until battery die. If i try anything else I'll crash and I already run out of parts and hobby money for this month.

^^ cool...will keep that in mind...last night i broke my paddle control frame ..sigh ..in two weeks i've already replaced one pair of blades a feathering shaft and repaired a broken landing gear....all im able to do so far is to move on the floor..i get it up for a while but could never keep it in control long enough...i'm determined to fly this thing cause i've heard the saying one you could fly a BCPP you could fly anything..and i rather learn on this than on my Trex 450 that im going to start building soon..build should take a few months so that should give me lots of practice on the BCPP even though everyone says the 450 is easier to fly...i would admit it is frustrating to be fixing this thing so much...and i live outside the USA so parts are a little more expensive at my LHS..and if they dont have at a particular time its even more expensive to bring it in...but im hooked on this...dont know if thats good or bad lol *sigh*

I had the same determination until I did a quick calculation of the money expended and elected to stop messing around with the BCPP.

I just got my cpp today and actually got up for about 5 min or so. I was outside and doing well for the first time off of the cx2, and then we got crazy.
I saved it a couple of times which made me try longer and then she went around the corner of the garage and down it was. New blades to follow:confused:. I was impressed with my skill out of the box. I thought I would:
A: take weeks before getting the balls to leave the ground.
B: go for it and crash HARD instantly.
C: break the thing getting it out of the box
But none of the above.:smokin::smokin:
Just crashed in the yard at 5 feet.
Maybe better next week.
I also have a G90 Gyro to put on and I will be waiting for Blades.

BCPP is easier to fix then 450 or Blade 400. take it easy, don't try any thing new before you're ready, that will save you money on parts. Fly this and you will be better pilots then any one who started with Trex.

yeah i've been looking at the cost of parts vs the rex 450 parts...blades alone on the bcpp is expensive...i'm giving serious thought to put my bcpp on the shelf and invest in a good sim while i build my rex..then take it slow and learn on the rex...even if the blade is easier to fix..i'm sure im not going to be fixing the rex as often as i do the bcpp..assuming that its more stable and is a "dream" to fly compared to the bcpp as most ppl are saying.

Get your throttle hold working first off, it will save you more money than anything else. to get more headspeed you just have to raise the values of the numbers in your throttle curves.

ok ill try raesing the throttle curve and see what is up with that but how do you set up your t-hold i now its just settings but win i flip the t-hold switch the throttle drops to nuthing dose anyone now how to set this

Yes throttle hold on an electric should bring the throttle to nothing, thats what you want it to do. Now if you know your going to crash, just hitting that throttle hold will keep the heli from doing the chicken dance and smashing itself into small bits.
Watch the "finless" T-rex videos, this will help you understand your heli much better, as the blade 400 and the t-rex are very similar. Excellent way to get started, the videos are a godsend to new people in the hobby.
