remote receiver question

i'm about to get a spectrum air module for my JR RADIO
it comes with a complete (2 pieces) ar7000 receiver.

my question.
suppose my model is very small and there is no place for the remote receiver,
can i use only the main receiver without the remote one?

trade it in on the ar6100 one piece for smaller models

does the main receiver work by itself using only one channel.
or must both be together in order to work at all?

No, the AR7000 will not work without the satellite Rx.

The AR6200 will work without the sat Rx.

But AR6100s are only $41.

did you try it out? (ar6200)
i'm reading in rcg that no dual receiver will work as a stand alone without the satellite...
at least not without a trick. (after connection remove the satellite) but that's too extreme,
it won't reconnect if signal is lost.

I have not tried it yet, but I have heard reports both ways.

So it MAY work without the sat. :)
