I hope to convert my Trex 600e to V-bar in the near future but firstly I need to upgrade my cyclic servos as I’m still using the Spektrum units that came with my DX7. Im considering either the JR 8717 or Futaba BLS451.

I know the 8717’s are the faster and more powerful of the two but at this stage I’m favouring the BLS451 over the JR for the following reasons:
-Standard size, no need to modify frames
-Marginally lighter
-Brushless motors less likely to wear
-Lower power consumption
-Replacement gear sets are cheaper

I have also read in other threads the BLS251 tail servo works better with V-bar than the JR8900G. Is this also the case for these cyclic servos or am I just better off with the higher output JR?

Please correct me if any of my points are incorrect or irrelevant. Thanks.

Ben.

The 8717 is the most rugged servo I have ever used. It will also run on 2s lipo eliminating the need for a full blown high amp regulator. The 251 is the servo of choice with Vstabi.

Will V-bar run on 2S lipo as well?

Yes, check the vstabi.de forum. You will need a real voltage regulator for the tail servo. There are three good choices. Spektrum, Emcotec, or the CC BEC wired with a signal wire.

I run 9155 directly in 2s lipo, they get warm as 8717. Altough I did not try BLS451 I am sure that you will like them. Why ? because I have 8717 9252 9155 and I did not find such a difference between 9252 and 8717, Just stay away from 9155 if you want speed. They are good servo precise, powerful but not fast enough.
