I have the gy611 and TBH there are gyros at much lower prices avalable these days. The JR 770 or Spartan would be fine. The GY611 is overpriced in the UK, if you have your heart set on it, import from ReadyHeli.

Also consider the quickUK fan rather than align, and get some of their fuel line clips too.

You will also need a throttle servo.

Yeah I have looked into the JR gyros and noticed the significant saving between the two ann to be honest am thinking about buying the whole lot from Ready Heli.

I shall take a look at Quick Uk's site now.

Thank you.

Hi Fury,

Your list looks good. You’re in for some serious fun.

I had trouble with my Align fuel filter. My engine was quitting lean with it until I removed it. You may be able to find a better one.

I love my 611s, but I’ve got to admit that the Spartan DS760 is a better gyro. Smaller footprint, lighter weight, less susceptible to crash damage, holds great, and fully configurable. Can’t ask for much more. Pair it with a JR 8900G for excellent performance.

It looks like you have top of the line equipment. Why not add a governor and a CarbSmart while you’re at it? You could put HS-81 servos on each of those products to keep the weight down. Then you’d have no worries about head speed or mixture. I’m using the Align governor (cheap) and I’m very happy with it. It’s simple and lightweight. I have throttle curves setup in the background in case the thing ever fails.

Good luck with whatever you end up with.

Keep ‘em flying.:YeaBaby:

Firstly thanks for the reply :thumbup:

I added the Align fuel filter as I had heard good things about them from this site but will keep in mind what you said if I am getting engine troubles.

Um, you the second person to suggest I different gyro so may have to give this some thought.

The Super Pro comes with the Align governor and I chap at my local field loves his so that good news.

I hadn't thought about a CarbSmart but the Super Pro eben comes with a mount for the servo too.

I'd change a couple things:

*Compass Knight 3D
* OS 50 SX-H Hyper
* JR 8717 (x3)
* JR 7703D and 8900 servo

* Align 3 Way Fuel Filter (HN6022)

* OS Bubbleless Fuel Tank Clunk

* Hayes Clunk Line
No other upgrades required. ;)

Is it worth building this with different head dampers as I have heard the standard ones can wear out quickly?

Do all Align helicopters require "upgrades" even before you open the box ?? I thought this was the SUPER DUPER PRO . Hold on tight to that upgrade wagon - it takes alot turns !

Every one I've ever owned needed about the cost of the kit in upgrades just to fly worth a crap.

I'm happy with my 600N - the only things I bought right off were a fan, servo horns and fuel lines, most of the upgrades I have done since were entirely due to me being a bling whore. :YeaBaby:

Absolutely, I've heard nothing but good things about Align and have only chosen the Super Pro as I too like all the bling parts :)

Get the JR 770 its a big savings and the Gy611 is older technology. $100 saved!
Do not buy the Align blade holder, there is one in the kit.
There are better fan choices --> http://www.trextuning.com/600n-fans.php

Consider the side carbon stiffener plates
White Align carbon tail blades
Arizona regulator (tried and true- has a long history)
Receiver battery ??

Hi Fury,

I almost forgot about the clutch liner replacement. I istalled a Raptor 90 clutch liner on the original build to prevent the clutch from engaging at half throttle. Maybe someone can tell you if they've fixed this in later kits. I have to say that I'm glad I did it. The clutch engages at a much lower rpm. It's right where I like it with the R90 clutch liner.

Other than that, mine is bone stock and an absolute delight to fly.

I think they sell a upgraded blade holder too !!! Seriously good luck with your build , the 600n served me well for a few months. I just got tired of constantly being bombarded with after market and factory upgrades. Keep the tail off the ground !

Hi Simmer,

I like my 770, but it's no 611. It can drift if not setup properly, setup is a bit of a pain, and the stops on it are brutal. Every time I forget to hold onto the stick when doing a 540 stall turn, I'm afraid I'm going to strip the gears in the servo or break the belt.

Like I said, I like it -- because it holds so well and has a constant pirouette rate -- but it's not a top of the line gyro. I'd go DS760 with 8900g if I were to do it over.

Oh you havent heard? I know of a guy who had two go bad- potential issues with the DS760.(serious about that) I think the JR gyro stops are managed with setup. Havent got a lot of time on mine but setting up per the instructions and a few tweaks later I find it has softened a lot

Let me clarify this before I get bombarded. (2 bad from one guy- he is top notch pilot) so I cant say for sure who else might be rethinking..

My personal feeling is its over priced, and too difficult to get, and service is accross the pond, not very user friendly.

The white Align carbons are supplied with the Super, as is the Align 2 in 1 voltage regulator and Li-Po which I was going to use to power the receiver but I have heard of people using other Li-Po’s which not only give longer flight times but balance the heli better.

I would be interested to hear what Li-Po’s other people are using.

LJS – I am interested in the clutch liner mod, is there a detailed thread anywhere that can provide more info?

I have two Align packs (one at a time!) and its enough juice for a day out. If you do get the GY611 you run out of space up front pretty quick with the amp up there, and the 2-in-1.

I now have the raptor 90hd liner in there. There is an excellent video by Mercuriell about replacement. It needs a little trimming. I have been told that the new clutch bell comes with a thicker lining, leaving less of a gap between it and the clutch, but I havent seen it myself so can't confirm.

I know, I thought the T-Rex 600 was the king of its class :dontknow

In an ideal world I would like to have just one battery but I suppose changing over mid day is no biggy. Does yours balance ok with the Align pack?

I must admit I’m having second thoughts about buying the GY611 now!

Thanks for that, I wasn’t aware there was a vid but shall check that out.

Perhaps somebody can confirm if the new clutch is sorted or not?

Yep its just fine on balance. Expect to get four tanks out of the little Align LiPo, and they are cheap as chips. £14 a time!

The 611 is a good gyro and good value at £160 with servo if bought from ReadyHeli. No flaws its just that there are other options these days you might want to consider with lower UK street prices.

I got everything but the kit from RH and saved £400 in all. Great deal and it was with me in 4 days. Great stuff. No import durt either :thumbup:
