Hey all!
Does anybody here fly a 600N with no governor?
Thanks!

You can fly any heli without a governor.

I did for a while and dont feel you need a gov. People do just fine without one. Its a nice to have thing, like so many extras and upgrades these days people now think they are essential.

Sounds encouraging.
If the governor isn't needed, I could re-use my 6-channel radio gear and save a good bit of $$$ initially. May hold off the need for a divorce attorney a while longer :D

You can fly with a governor with 6 channels if you do without the remote gyro gain. Get a gyro that allows you to set at on the unit itself and you have a free channel.

Its really important to be able to setup and understand pitch and throttle curves. Once you can manage this, then toss in a gov if you like. A good bit of radio power is being able to set pitch and throttle curves. Why waste the technology. Doing it with a three point curve is not too user freindly. Requires compromises and its hard to get a good curve setup with just three points. If your 6 channel has only three, a gov will improve the performance.
I see the DX6I has 5 points your good to go :)

I think you will find that divorce attorney cheap compared to what the cost of this hobby will be ! Good luck with the throttle curves - they do in fact fly fine without the gov.

No gov here...yet!
I flew without one then with one , I tried to nail the throttle curves but could never quite get it. I found that in some manouveres the head would overspeed ie tail slide type moves and also the tail was less solid with the headspseed up and down. I got the revlock gov which i found to be very well priced and extremely easy to set up and have never looked back. It just took away one of the many things you have to worry about. And if it saves me a crash due to keeping the tail more consistent if i bog it and lose orientation, or if it prevents an overspeed and saves engine damage it is money well spent. Its probably a bit like do i really need carbon blades,Do i really even need a gyro to fly. Some of the older fellows have flown without gyros using revo mixes and it can be done. So no you dont need one but it will bemore enjoyable with one.
Saying that, if you are just flying circuits and doing mild flight you can get away without one.

You can fly with a governor with 6 channels if you do without the remote gyro gain. Get a gyro that allows you to set at on the unit itself and you have a free channel.
For that matter, you could fly with a Multigov and just use one setting, freeing that channel for gyro gain. Some governors use the center and ATVs to determine RPM; the Multigov (and probably some others) just uses the programming channel for switching between three settings configured using the display unit.
