Mate that looks great, good luck with your AP work. I bet that crap you got dealt from that SDPI mob pales into grey now you've got it running!

Wow!!! I bet it's one of the lightest AP rigs in the sky.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty chuffed with it. I haven't put it on the scales yet but it definately feel light for a 690 ship. I've noticed a big difference in the heli's lifting capacity after making the move from 600's. It feels much safer in the air now and although I haven't tried an auto yet I think it would handle just fine if I had to.

Yeah the whole episode with sdp is one I would not want to repeat. I've since found a few other places that sell the extended belt so I can happily avoid SDP from now on :).

Thanks for posting that - looks to be a very nice conversion.

I remember you posted one Australian company already... Would you share the names of the others also?

There are plenty of suppliers out there for this part. Do a google on 385 XL timing belt and you'll find quite a list. It's a 1/4" wide belt with 385 teeth at .200" pitch.

Here's one of the many suppliers in the US:

Still $40 shipping to the UK - which is much better than any other that I've found.

Wow, I learnt a valuable lesson today:

"When setting up a new radio never allocate a calibration switch near the throttle hold switch!!!"

I was in a stable hover at around 30ft AGL preparing to calibrate the auto stabilisation of my AP2000i. Once I felt the heli was perfectly level I made sure the stabiliser gain was at zero and switched what I thought was the calibration switch. Expecting the heli to remain stable my heart stopped as I heard the motor cutout.

I was able to auto out for a safe landing but jeez, I think I used up about 25ft tring to figure out what was going on. Outside of the sim this was my first Auto!

Oops! A friend of mine once did that with his dual rate switch. Needless to say, he doesn't use his dual rates anymore :D

Yeah, nothing a cal switch change and a new pair of jocks won't fix ;).
