I still balk at the price of lipo batteries for my 600. I can't imagine coughing up $600.00 for a pack let alone having two or three of them. And also the way that I continue to have contact with terra firma, I worry about the destruction factor. Even if you get packs from a vendor that offers a 50% crash replacement you are still in the hurt bag dollar wise. At the price I get 30% for at the bulk fuel buy, I can get 37 gallons for the price of a 12S pack. I can put up with the slime and the noise for that....

ppriday, 16 bucks a gallon is pretty good! That price seems pretty low to me, but if you are taking the time to save like that on fuel then look around for battery sales. I bought a couple of the 6S AT 5000's for $236, bought FP 30C 6S 4500's for about $179 after all the discounts, etc. I have easily found TP eXtreme V2 3850's for $234 and 5000's for $269 before any sales or discounts. Maybe a group battery buy could be arranged and save ya'll a few dollars on batteries like you do on fuel? How many TRex 600 flyers are near you that could join in?

At the moment I'm thinking of converting my Rap90 to E-power, but I won't decide until mid-summer. Too bad a TRex E710 isn't coming out before then, I'm in a spending mood right now!

I would definitely go for the 700E, as long as I could put two of my TP 6 cell 5000ma/hr packs in series. I would not buy the 700E, if it used a different battery size and shape than the 600E.

yeah, I can't remember if it was $65.00 or $69.00 a case... one or the other. In any case, a good deal. I guess that is why clubs have bulk fuel buys...

I'm still waiting for some miraculous big sale to come on 6S 5000's for my 600 :-)

As long as it ran on 2 x 6S sure or if battery prices drop.

I love the electrics! for sure battery prices are rediculous (looking at a 10s conversion for the 600 eek)

What i really don't understand is why the hell they need to go either way! like really there are minimal differences between the 600e and 600n kits, apart from the dumbass things that align did, ie frame sizes. Why not sell a 700 kit (which includes all the basic pieces) and then have a nitro addon kit and electric addon kit (or even just ship with the parts for nitro AND electric, selling the electric motor/ESC seperately), that way people can decide for themselves, and there would only be minimal part differences.

As far as i see it the electric only would need a different mount plate for the motor (of course losing the clutch). The other problem that align has had ESP with the 600 is that most people realize that 6s just isn't quite enough power for the 600, I know a few people that want the 600 but would then have to ditch the electrics for some tasty 10s kit... Why align? especially on the larger helis (you can pretty much guarantee that the people that buy a 700 will know what motor they want)

You know, everybody is saying if you crash it, you will destroy a $600 lipo. Most people will end up running 2x 6s lipos, since I have never even seen a 12s brick pack  The way my stretched 600 is, one lipo is in the frame and the other is exposed. i have never crashed it, but I think you'd need to plow it straight into the earth to destroy both lipos... Unless one explodes and causes a chain reaction...
Anyway, If you make the frames right, you could offer some/more protection for the Lipos. Just me $0.02 :D

I really hope after the 700 comes out, Charley or Kevin makes us a nice conversion frame

I have seen more than one totally destroyed 6S pack after a Trex600e crash. Trust me it aint as hard to do as you think. Their own weight on impact can taco them! Ask me how I know ;)

I've killed 2 600 packs in 3 crashes.
One got a hole in one cell, the other is leaking out of the end of one cell...easy to do, and expensive!!:(

Neither pack hit the ground, got torn up by broken plastic on one, crushed on the other.

Just curious how many flights you get off a gallon of fuel with a 90? I realize this can very based on setups and pilot but what is a ballpark.

50% crash replacement could turn to 75%?

great protect the batteries in the frames

You guys all spend way too much money on lipos. I'm tellin ya... www.hobbycity.com (http://www.hobbycity.com)

Great lipo's...and they're cheap. Of course if you want to spend more money on a namebrand pack...that's your prerogative.

The Zippy's perform just as well if not a little better than my FP's.

$260 for a 12S 5000mAh flight pack (2x 6S in serial). I'm there!

I'm with you on the Zippy's. I wont waste my money on big name packs anymore. Zippy's are as good as any pack I have flown. If you want even more of a bargain, pair the packs up with a TURNIGY Sentilon100A HV 2-12S Speed Controller for $100.00. I use this ESC on my 10S 600 size machine and it works just fine. Who says a 700 Electric costs too much.

I just completed my initial T-Rex 700 electric conversion yesterday so I highly doubt I'd buy one from Align now! The machine isn't fine tuned yet but I'm already happy given the system I put in it. I'm going to create a thread dedicated to this with further details and pics shortly. I just wanted to let you all know it's been successfully done here easily. Also, I'm using a 12s 2100mah pack made from 3 4s 2100 packs wired in series. Each 4s pack was only $62 so my 12s packs only cost me $186! They're also designed to sustain high charge rates so my wait time is only about 3 minutes between flights. So I basically can fly my 700E back to back all day long. It's amazing. I didn't think this balance could be possible. This machine is super light weight as you might've already guessed which helps make this possible. Perfect CG too.

Yeah I voted yes but I would definitely be running A123. I can barely afford the packs for the my Trex 500.

2100 seems low, can you get more than 3 min. flight?

3 min tops. That's the trade off for dirt cheap packs and low mah. It's still got pop though! I personally would much rather have shorter flights and almost no wait between flights as opposed to longer flights but > 10 min waits. Check out my 700E thread I just created. It explains everything:

$118 per 700e battery - HeliFreak

i'm thinking many of you have seen this thread in the 700 forum. but in case you haven't, here ya go.

Turnigy 5000 6S1P 15C batteries are apparently mislabeled. they are 20C-30C batteries and are $59.99 USD.

no, I think 500ESP is the cut-off line between electric and nitro. Many people wants a 600E but the battery cost prohibit them from getting a 600E. As battery price goes down, 600E will get it's turn. 700E will be next.

Did you see the post previous to yours? 20-25C 6s1p 5000mAh batteries for $59 each. I just received 4 more of these yesterday.
