Fly a CX2 and am about ready to lift off on my Trex450 SE V2. Already thinking about the 'next' heli to get. Once one gets into the bigger helis, batteries are not cost effective. I thought starting with a 30 sized nitro would get my feet wet in the nitro stuff but the heli would not cost an arm and a leg to build or to replace parts like on the 500 stuff. Besides, if I could find a heli that flys like the Impala 30 on the G4 sim I'd get it tomorrow. Knowing what my thoughts are, what would you reccomend I consider?

30 size nitro is going the way of the beta max so the first thing I'll do is encourage you to start with a 50 it will save you upgrading later. For the most part the 30 and 50's are nearly the same except for gearing, boom, blades, and ofcourse engine and they have a lot better power to weight ratio but very similar crash and running costs.

The well known and well supported choices are the 600n, Titan 50, and EVO 50.

If you have your heart set on a 30 then a Raptor 30 or EVO 30 with an OS 37

Thanks! I didn't realize parts were extremely similiar. If you've ever flown the Impala .30, it's very forgiving and I have enjoyed flying it more than all the others. It's sort of soft and floaty. Not into 3D in the slightest. I'll do cool scale with the heli behaving like helis do when you see them working. You know if any of the ones you suggested fly like the Impala in G4?

I don't have G4 but I can tell you that almost any helicopter can be set up with soft dampening, heavier paddles, and conservative throws and be nice and tame.

Sounds Nice. What would you recommenf for my Trex 450 SE? I did turn some brass weights for the flybar and added 6grams to each side. Haven't hovered it yet. Did all the Radd's School stuff and have flown the sim a lot. When no wind happens and I feel gutsy, guess I'll see what it does when I try to hover.
