HEY! HEY!
Hovered my Trex 450 through 3 batteries without a crack up. Every other time so far it has been fly for a couple minutes and wait a week for more repair parts. So far with the purchase and repair parts I "think" I have averaged about $150.00 per minute fly time (don't have the heart to add up the real facts).........
And it has been some dangerous flying too. Not with the heli but with the wife.... She's not impressed with the hobby so far ;o)
The forum has been a big help, Thanks

Do you have a sim? I spent all of last summer hovering in my driveway, crashing, waiting for parts. I could only hover tail and sides in, and my attempts at forward flight were less than stellar. I fought the idea of getting a sim mostly because I had an older laptop. My sis hooked me up with her computer when she bought a new one in October, so I bought RF G3.5, and simmed my brains out. We had a ton of snow all winter long so I wasn't up to flying in it until recently. A few weeks ago I walked outside and flew circuits, fig 8s, hovered nose in, all in my front yard that doesn't have a ton of room, and it was a non-event. The sim really worked well for me. I have been over to my big flying area, and have been crash free and flying decent. Like I tell other people, the sim paid for itself in the first day of usage.
Don't worry about the wife, it's your hobby, you need to progress at your pace. I remember when I could finally hover tail in and my wife was standing beside me and she said "turn the nose towards us". Yeah, that didn't happen. She likes this hobby, but then she has always supported my need to play with toys... :)

Steve, I'm new at this also, I'd change Wive's before I'd change hobbies :YeaBaby:
Actually my Wife has been very supportive.
We spend a lot of time on the boat in the summer, but during the long Oregon winters, I needed something to occupy my mind besides work.
I'd be tinkering & adjusting in my room and many times she stop in and comment how happy she is for me that I found something that fills me up.
So Steve, just tell her you're leaving with your helo unless she straightens up

Mine has been supportive too. She has seen me start and abandon so many hobbies that I think she's relieved that I found one I can actually stick with. Plus, with me reaching middle age, it's a lot cheaper than a sports car. When she gets a chance to accompany me to the field, she usually stitches, knits, or crochets while I fly.

Thanks gents.
Truth be known she thinks the RC heli it pretty cool, it is just the money flowing out of my pocket like water she gets a little sideways about. (spend another $200 plus last night for 401 and digital servo)
Thanks for the back up......
