my patience has ran out! i have decided to get a trex 500:YeaBaby:, i have a bunch of 3s for my 450 but i rather keep them for the 450. i plane on running 6s for the t500. i need some advice on a good charger for 6s packs. and another question, how do you guys charge these giant batteries at the feild without popping the hood of your truck? any other options besides dumping money into a generator? thanks

TP 610 is only single output and cant crank the amps the hyperions can. hyperion duo nothing can beat it. can charge 2 bats in half an hour :D. as for a generator they dont have enough power to power the duo. you need a large deep cycle marine batterie with about 125 amp hours, you can get one for about 115$, and charge about 20 batteries of it.

2 packs at once!:) 20 packs of a marine battery so i guess i would need a charger for that also:(. what about a powersupply, i have a 20amp pro peak. will the hyperion work with it.

that is the power supply I am using. but for the field you will want a large deep cycle marine batterie.

Love my TP1010 and 210 balancer. Been super reliable, can charge anything I have (micad, Lion, Lipo, etc) and can charge lipos up to 10S. AND the code is updatable!
It is expensive but I have yet to see a new charger come out that I would replace mine with!

the tp1010 sounds like the best bet. but your right it is pricey but i think it will do justice in the long run for bigger packs, all though the the hyperion duo sounds nice but i already have 2 cellpro4s for my 3s packs. so im leaning toward the tp1010 as i see all the big dawgs using them. as for those deep cycle batteries can they be recharged? id hate to get one then charge 20 times off it then have my garage filled with batteries.lol well i guess ive been bit by the bug pretty hard, im in the hobby for the long run and thats what im shopping for. thanks freaks

Of course deep cycle batteries can be recharged. Just like your car battery. The difference between a deep cycle battery and a car battery is the plates are thicker and thus dont get messed up when you drain the battery down too far. They are made to be drained lower. They are commonly used on RV's, Boats, etc where DC is used to power lights and electronics and thus tend to be drained to a lower voltage.
Car batteries do not see that kind of use and are made for cold cranking amps (starting the car). You will notice a car battery has a high cold cranking amp rating than a deep cycle.
Anyway if you use a deep cycle you will need a car battery charger. I suggest a 3 stage charger as deep cycle batteries last longer if charged with a 3 stage purpose built charger rather than a $15 walmart car batt charger. I like the GUEST chargers myself.

I have the TP1010c and 210 balancer and agree with Finless. I was debating about getting another TP1010c and 210 combo but decided on the Hyperion EOS0610i Duo. This is a slick charger that can handle up to two 6s Lipo's. It is actually two chargers in one including the balancers. You can also sync two batteries together to use as one (two 6s would give a 12s) Now I can charge (3) 6s Lipo's at the same time using both chargers (using the Ripmax Pro Peak dual power supply at 1c charging rate). The Hyperion EOS0610i Duo has everything the TP1010c and 210 has except the discharge feature. The code can be upgraded, can be connected to a PC and has a temperature probe (extra).
Good Luck :)

it can charge 2 6s packs?:wow2: hmmm that sounds pretty cool. i called a friend and he has a couple deep cycle batteries from his old boat so im set on that. i will look into the chargers for it. as for the lipo chargers its gonna be either the hyperion or the tp1010, they both seem like great chargers wish i could just get both. i think im gonna go check out rchover and drule a bit more and hopefuly come up with a choice.:thinking

I would seriously consider the Hyperion EOS0610i Duo.
It is actually a "four in one" unit. Two 180 watts chargers and two balancers in one.

I'm running two TP1010 and 210 balancers ,these are good chargers. My 989 Super Brain suchs!

+1 DUO...Frickin excellent charger.
Hyperion DUO
12S
360 Watts Power
Charge 2x 6S = 35 Min
Upgradeable Firmware
No Discharge Cycle
PC Communications
Temp Probes
TP1010
10S
220 Watts Power
Charge 1x 6S = 35 Min (both at 2C)
Both chargers charge all kinds batteries.
Upgradeable Firmware
Discharge Cycle (only matters if you use other than LiPo)
No PC Communications (but not sure)
No Temp Probes
Dunno...looks to me like the DUO has some clear advantages. I don't doubt the 1010 is a good charger...but it's been outdone.
I get almost constant flights (15 min breaks between) with the DUO. You'd have to spen $550-600 to get the same out of the TP1010.

And did I mention the balancers are built in. One box, two chargers, two balancers. I think when you really get down to it, the DUO sells itself.

Do you need to buy a power supply for the duo?

I just use a 115Ah Deep Cycle battery. It's inexpesnsive to a monster power supply and can go to the field with me. I've gotten about twenty 3S 2500 charges out of it in one day at the field. At one point, I think we had five chargers hooked up to it and it did fine. Then just charge it up after every couple days of home use or a day at the field.

I use the Hyperion 1210i w/ 2x LBA10 balancers, but I might look at adding a DUO. I really like this Hyperion and can charge up to 2 - 6s packs at once. That would be 4 packs charging at once, but I use 2x3s 2500's in the 500.

I balance charge 10 8S packs with two BC8's in under 3 hrs @2C. Inbuilt balancers / 150Watts. IMO the best thing since sliced bread :)
