Hi guys
I've already got a Trex600:) and was looking at buying the Compass Knight Electric.
Any advice or views on this? Is it a good heli?
Thanks a mill

heres a vid of me flying a stock 3de
http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/Geegar/?action=view¤t=K3DE.flv
absolutely raped it and averaged 40amps, peaked at just over 100amps round the big ben. That means the pack is running at under 10c average and 22c max
im really impressed.

Ok...I think I'm in.:)
I'm not going to get rid of my Trex600 just yet though.
Is anyone here flying the Knight with the 6 cell motor which is now an option with the kit? Just makes more sense staying with 6 cell as I already have the packs for my Trex. However if it doen't perform well with that motor, then I'd rather go 8 cell.
Any advice?

people over here that are running 6s on their trex are buying a 2s pack of the same cells and running it in series with their 6cell to make 8s.
8s is the best way to run a 50 size electric. average discharge is less than 10c and peak is only just over 20c. this makes for cool running long living li-pos!

Yes 8s is great on a 600 size heli.

Where is Rodney when you need him. I would say that if someone could weigh the Knight, you could compare that to the weight of your T-REX and make a more educated decision about 6 vs 8 s.

I'll take my knight 600E to the LHS and weigh it tomorrow. I will also list everything on it with a few pictures.

Thanks guys
My Trex is underpowered for hard 3D on 6 cell.
But you are right Will, we should compare the weights for a more educated decision. Maybe the Knight will be ok on 6 cell.
But then again...can you ever have enough power;) I think I should look at the 2 cell add on option. With the cost of good lipo's, one must always try and have cross compatability.
Look forward to your pics and specs Lithiumstatic. Thanks.

There is no doubt that 8s performance is HOT. I think Clint's Gohbee was ballistic at B-HAM on 8s. Crazy!!

So let me get this straight....I'm running the 6S1P 5000mah Kongpowers on my Trex600. So all I need to buy are the 2S1P 5000mah Knogpowers to add in series to fly the night?
I know the power will be crazy, but any idea what sort of run time I'll get?

exactly growler, you should get 5mins of spirted flying or 4-4.5mins of raping it.

I have my timer set at 4:00 minutes putting back around 2900 milliamps per charge. That's well under the 80/20 rule. Flying Sport/Mild 3D

I got it from X heli...the local importer here in South Africa.
Not at all popular here yet, but think it'll start showing up a little more often soon.
What tooth pinion should the 8s run?

Unless there are other variants of the kit we don't know of, yours should come with motor and pinion installed already. add electronics and main blades to fly.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself.
My kit came with the 6 cell motor and esc...and the dealer swapped them out for the 8 cell motor and high voltage esc, but I still have the same pinion that came for the 6 cell setup.
Just wanted to know if that pinion will be fine or do I need to go back and ask for the pinion that comes with the 8 cell motor?
Regards

the motors are matched to the gearing, so no need to change the pinion

The 6 cell system is the same gear ratio as the 8s. They all use the same as the knight 3D nitro machine.
We have the 6s on the way here so we can see what it is capable of and how well it is going to work. I am not sure of the weights of the electric helis as I do not fly them myself. I can get the weight info if you need it. Bobby has the 8717 servos in his. With the 8s setup.
