View Full Version : Curve confusion

Setting up a new 600 pro and I am confused on the throttle and pitch curves. Should I just set up as per the manual? OS 50 Hyper, Align Pipe, Cool Power 30%. I am a master hoverer and just beginning forward flight. It would be nice for the Idle Up to mimic the normal flight mode so when I hit the Idle up switch there is not a big jump from normal mode. I set my 450SE V2 up per the Finless vids, but I can not find the same info in the 600 Nitro vids.
Thanks

are you used to flying in normal mode with a -2 to +10 type curve and hoving at half stick?
Would you consider relearning a tiny bit with a -10 to +10 on normal? I find it makes life a lot easier, especially when/if you start to use Idle up and Hold more often. that will prevent the dangerous jump that often occurs when the normal mode and idle up pitch curves are misaligned. As for throttle curves you'll need to tweak them a little to try to maintain a somewhat consistent and safe headspeed, In normal mode I have my govorner disable and use 0, 15, 30, 45, 75.
if you are hesitant to try -10 to +10 on your normal curves one suggestion I can make is having your normal mode curve equal from the middle up to your idle ups, IE normal mode at low stick is -2, at mid stick is 0 degrees and at top is 10, your idle up is -10 at bottom, 0 at middle and +10 at the top, if you switch into idle up from a hover you shouldn't experience a change in pitch as the curves are identicle from the middle up, make any sense?

i have all mine set up that normal is about -2 to 4 but 0 is always at mid stick so in flight going from normal to idle up dont change.

Seriously just set the normal to the ID1 and 2.
-10 0 +10 and later on you can go -13+13 with 0 in the middle. Its more psycological than anything else. after the first hover you will find its no big deal. and no jump when switching.. the only thing is, really dont drop the throttle stick too fast. Im telling you one flight and youll be set. Its not as big a deal as you have potentially worked yourself up to.

i dont use a IU curve in normal.... makes no sense to me to do so. Just adjust your mid stick position to where you have 1-2 degree's of pitch and your 3/4 point where you have just about 6* of pitch. then adjust your points on your curve while flipping between normal and IU1/2 while watching the swash. adjust them to get as small a jump as possible. Normally a 1-2* pitch change during the flip wont be seen in flight (bc you'll eventually get to the point of flying in IU before you lift off).
this keeps the feel you've been having and if you ever chop the throttle again, gives you the safety of not having -10/13 degree's of pitch instantly

you can totally avoid the jump by just having them equal from the middle up, ie
In your radio set the curves to
normal pitch curve 30, 40, 50, 75, 100
idle up pitch curve 0, 25, 50, 75, 100
where at 50% you have 0 degrees
you can also set up the hold like the numbers show in normal pitch curve above some people find it easier to auto that way. Either way it comes down to what you are comfortable with but if you plan on ever having someone help you with your heli or test fly make sure they know what your curves are
