View Full Version : Rudder input on transmitter....

I've always wondered about this and have never been able to figure it out. I have absolutely no end points set for rudder on my DX6. When I go full right rudder, the servo actually stops responding about half way through stick movement and there is a dead space from that point on. I've tried everything with my transmitter to achieve a 1 - 1 ratio for the given stick input but just can't figure it out (the same issue exists with left rudder input).

The tail servo behaves as if the rudder end points on the transmitter are not at 100%. I've tried brining both ends up to 150% but that doesn't effect it. I don't know what to make of this. It hasn't effected my hover practice since its been this way from day one and remained this way after changing the gyro and tail servo. I've reset my transmitter and gone through a complete setup several times and every time the results are the same. Maybe its supposed to be this way? Anyone else experience this? :dontknow

do you have end points adjustment on your gyro? if it's a 2100, here's a good video on end point adjustment...ken

I do have the 2100, should have mentioned that. I've messed around with its end point setting, Its been a couple weeks since I've set it up and can't remember for sure but that might have been the only thing that made maybe a tiny bit of difference. I'm also using the 3100G tail servo with the 2100 set for that specific servo.

I have exactly the same problem.

I have set my travel adjust down to 50% and now the throw of the tail slider matches the throw of the rudder stick.

Haven't flown it yet, but it "feels right" :)

I believe rudder movements with a gyro is different from cyclic. You will find that even though the movement seems to stop at 50% right or left stick, when you are flying, going 50% left stick makes the piro go slower than 100% left stick. The amount of stick left or right is actually controlling rudder movement authority (how much it "fights" to move in that direction and how fast). So I believe it is normal what you are describing, if you adjust the travel on the tx, you won't get nearly as fast a piro rate.
