im new to lipos and helis and I had a question about charging lipos.

I have a hyperion duo and I was charging my flightpower 2170mah 3s. I read through the instruction and it said not to charge the lipo beyond 12.63 (4.21 per cell). Any I was observing the voltage that was being put into my battery and it reached 12.635v then it stop charging and the voltage drop down to 12.5 then it began to charge again and it reached 12.631 then at the end of the charge my battery had a voltage of 12.6v.

Now

1. is this normal or should I discontinue the charge when it gets 12.6v?
2. when flight power stated 12.63v, is it within acceptable range if it reaches 12.639?

thanks

Perfectly normal.

There is a lot of debate on RCGroups over the displayed voltage on the DUO. The short answer is that the duo is 'smart' enough to sense the resistance of the wiring and lipo (and displays this) and corrects its voltage such that the voltage at the battery is 12.6v (and this can be verified with a DVM). This results in the voltage at the charger being higher, as there are losses on the way to the battery through the wiring.

thanks, thats a relief!
