View Full Version : Dancing Voltage

Is anyone else experiencing a "dancing voltage" while viewing individual cells? Mine jump around a lot on all my different types of batteries. For example: the cells jumps from 4.10v to 3.84v to 4.0v. The jumps happen every second and slow down as the battery gets full. The voltages it jumps to seem to be random.

Thanks

It has taken 105 minutes already to charge an Air Thunder 2200mah that was at 50%. I am charging at 1C.

Does the charger have a problem?

I stopped the charging and started it again to see if that would help. It charged for an additional 55 minutes before I stopped it again. The voltage read 12.60 volts, but it never stopped.

Additionally, when the voltage is dancing around it sometimes reads above 4.20 volts on an individual cell. Ex: 4.24v

Could be a defective charger, but it could also be a bad EAC12x connection board. I would recommend that you contact your dealer regarding this.

I have a spare board. I'll switch it over an see what happens. Then I'll call the dealer on Monday.

Thanks!

Two weeks ago I sent my charger to the dealer, along with the balance board. After dealing with this people for the last week, this is what we have come to:

(Not you Evan. I feel you would actually take care of me)

The dealer is now insisting that my batteries are causing the problem with the charger. I find this to be impossible since they charge fine on other setups with similar wiring. The charger also charged the same batteries for the first three weeks of ownership just fine. In fact, they were always perfectly balanced in under one hour.

I strongly feel that the charger is broken. How should I handle this issue with folks who insist on not cooperating?

These are the charger issues:

1. my cell voltages are fluctuating during charge,
2. the charger exceeding 4.2v per cell,
3. the battery charging for over 2 hours at 1c without finishing.

I experienced very similar behavior on my Cellpro 4S a while back. A new adapter fixed the problem. Must have been a bad connection.

I had the same thing on a different charger. Actually, it was in the board. If you manipulate the connectors from the pack to the board, or the board to the charger, you will see the fluctuation in the voltages settle back down. I freaked the first time I saw it doing this. Could be something else, but if this solves the problem, at least you know it's the board.

They are insisting that I provide the connection to the charger. Honestly, I have no idea how to do this.

Keep in mind that it worked JUST FINE on the same exact setup for the first three weeks.

They said the board is fine.

Specifically, they said that my balance plug wires need to be re-wire by me to make them work. I am using Air Thunders, Loong-Max, E-Flite, and Parkzone batts. All of them have the same exact plug and wiring.

Mine doesn't do it everytime, just occassionally, I will look over and see them jumping around. I push / pull on the connectors to make sure they are seated, sometimes pushing the wires into the connector harder and it quits. I am going to order new boards, but they are out of stock right now.

Mine did exactly the same.

Interesting information.

The problem I am having though, is that they are saying there is no problem.

Well, it might not be when they are testing. It might not be occurring everytime a pack is plugged in. Get it back and try it again.

If you need any of the connection boards, we have them all in stock. Rare do we ever run out as we get shipments in monthly from Bantam. Current stock on all EAC boards is about 300 at the moment.
